Picked up my truck 10 days ago, five days later, it's in the shop. Took it in for "Service Shifter" notification and no-start. After a day of trouble shooting, tech determined the Electronic Shifter Module needed to be replaced. When the SA called me to let me know, he also informed me that this same repair was already completed on my truck by the selling dealer. This was not disclosed to me at the time of purchase. I've tried to get in contact with the selling dealership, no luck. So while it's there for that repair, the dealer completed a SB that required inspection of the axles. Yep, you guessed it, both axles need to be replaced. Man...I've never experienced this type of craziness with a vehicle. Looking forward to getting my truck back so I can put all the new toys on it and enjoy it.

First I’ve heard of this. Did they say exactly what was wrong with the axles?

probably just cuts in the boots? i had that with mine, brand new from the dealer. I want to say I maybe read somewhere that this was not all the uncommon?

Speaking of axle inspections…

The most trouble-free vehicle I ever owned was a 2015 Ram R/T. It had a single fault that was fixed at the 1st oil change.

Get this…55 trucks got non-heat treated right axle shafts during assembly (the higher capacity heat treated shaft was part of the R/T pkg). Ram issued a recall for dealers to remove, inspect & replace the shaft if it was found to be non-heat treated. My dealer said there was no way to verify by inspection, so every dealer was simply replacing the right axle shaft to ensure longevity.

Hey, I got new rear diff fluid at 1K miles out of the deal.

This happened while Ram was owned by Mercedes. Those were the days!

The SA mentioned there was a SB for all RHOs assembled after Dec 24. He stated the output shafts needed to be replaced in both axles

I got the Service Shifter light today. Came on when I went into manual mode via tapping the paddle. After shutting the truck off and running into the store, didn’t happen again..
