CAI or no CAI???

Whats everyones opinion on the CAI. I just called S&b and they state end of October for theirs to ship. I had been waiting for it but getting tired of waiting. Should I just get the bwoody pipe instead? Or get the KN one? Any input is appreciated.

Also just bought the velocity bov and have the mrt mid exhaust.

Current K&N one out there is not for the RHO. They are working on one and should be out by end of year...maybe sooner. I'm waiting for that one.

was not intended for the RHO...you could make it "FIT" but you will not see real gains...they are working on an RHO only kit.

Not sure what's out there. I think AFE and S&B are the closest to having product in stock. Worth the money? depends on who you ask...I worked for K&N and trust those guys. So, I'm waiting for their kit.

Doesn’t RHO have a CAI from the factory? I guess the air coming from the hood scoop may not be the coldest.

If you get something that pulls cooler air from below the radiator, it might be a problem in an off-road oriented vehicle, no?

They gave you one with the truck. Put a sticker on it if you want it to feel aftermarket.

that's what cold air intakes usually do in my opinion

I have had few in the past, and noticed a big difference. On my Hemi current aldo has on my RamSRT10. Your giving more air which allows it to breathe. And it sounded amazing on the SRT10, You could hear that air bring sucked in almost like a jet.
But as for RHO (still waiting for mine) I don't think you will notice anything as it already has CAI. Better flowing air filter and smoother intake tube is what really changes and don't think that is enough. My opinion

Well I bought one from our forum member here. Got the tube and better air filter. In my opinion it should allow the truck to breathe more. Usually more air means more power. Based on all the videos from people that have installed with tunes they are getting more power vs not having it.

There’s a YouTube video out there from a few years ago…Euro content creator.

He proved on a dyno that aftermarket CAI, by itself, does nothing. It may “feel” faster when you can hear induction noises, I suppose.

He even hooked a blower up to an open/unrestricted air intake. No boost in HP. Some of the kits actually reduced HP/TQ, as they pulled hot air from the engine bay.

I don’t remember all the science, but it had lots to do with the mass air flow sensor.

I would say the reason why they getting more power is the tune, not the air intake itself.. the little thing won't be able to cool the air that much, especially on turbo engine when it has to go through the whole system.. f.e. larger IC will definitely make a difference in temperature, but then everything else has to be calibrated for that change.. thinking of just adding a CAI on engine and gaining any usable power upgrade from it is in my opinion a fairytale that makes the manufacturer of these kits money .. yes might get 2-4hp at 7000rpm but is that really worth it lol

Just installed the intake pipe and AFE air filter the sound difference is minimal but you can definitely hear the turbos. No drone in the cabin. Might not be faster but I can definitely feel a difference in acceleration response.
