Catalyst Failure Thread

If you have had a catalyst failure or catalyst replaced by the dealer - Can you post here with...

1) your mileage
2) build date
3) and if the catalyst was for the front bank (cylinders 1-3), the rear bank (cylinders 4-6), or both banks?
4) what CEL's did it throw & what symptoms did you have?

The cylinders are numbered 1-6 from the front to the back.

Mine were apparently replaced before I took possession with 35km on the unit. Tech needs me to bring in the truck to do a software update regarding the new cats now. No CEL or issues yet even without the software update.

Can you ask the technician to write down what software version you came from and what sw version you updated to? Thank you for sharing!

Still awaiting a reply from RAM. I was told only one of my cats were replaced and that a tech from head office needed to come down to update the computer and try diagnose what went wrong with the replaced cat.

I'll know more once I speak with the tech directly.

Would have been nice to know that this truck had a cat replaced when I purchased it new from the dealer.

I would have to ask but I have 827 miles and it has been in service for 2 1/2 weeks!!! They thought it was a O2 sensor and then found out the CAT was melted. Who can I reach out to to file a complaint with RAM? Honestly pretty frustrated

Ooof 10.5hrs idle time? Mine was at 5hrs when I picked it up.

They actually surprised me and gave me a brand new ram 3500. I already put 700 miles on it.
