CEL After Failed Remote Start

Wondering if anyone else has come across this same issue. I have had it happen 3 different times in 4500 miles of ownership.

After remote starting my truck from the key fob the engine fires up for 2-3 seconds and quits. I’Il go start it up from inside the truck and the check engine light comes on. After driving for a few miles, I’ll turn the engine off and back on and the check engine light is gone.

In the old days, you’d expect the issue to get worse & worse until the problem became self-evident. Now, with glitchy electronics, stuff happens so randomly. But, you can be assured…there is a problem/glitch somewhere in the system. Hopefully, it never leaves you stranded.

No, the most recent incident occurred the morning after filling up.

Correct, if the check engine light is on during a remote start event, it will cancel after a few seconds. Doesn’t matter if the CEL disappears after driving. You need to pull the fault to see why the CEL is coming on.

I'd say a trip to the dealer is a good idea before it gets worse.
