So I guess the time finally came after owning the truck for 2 weeks and just hitting 268 miles.

I was giving WOT pulls when suddenly the CEL started blinking and shortly after staying solid, my truck wouldn’t go past 2k RPMS and sounded like if I had cams on it, idling very rough, before completely shutting down on its own.

I don’t know what code it threw but the code reader said I had a misfire on every cylinder. What makes it weird is that on my connected ram app, it shows that everything is fine and there’s no reported issues.

Truck got towed tonight to a local dealership so let’s see what it can be.

sorry to hear this and keep us posted on what happens please. mine is at the dealer with CEL @190 miles and haven't heard anything back yet. Are you in in Florida? It's really crazy and good you weren't stuck in the middle of nowhere when it happened. i almost picked up at MD in Louisiana to drive back to Florida and would have had a problem before I even got out of the state.

Did you order or buy off lot?

Waiting on this truck is an emotional rollercoaster. It seems we had a good week of minimal issues reported, then all of the sudden I read about 5 major issues in under 300mi each (sounds like 4 cats, 1 blown diff). It somehow seems worse when it’s consistent forum contributors who finally take delivery, instead of new members coming here looking for help with their first post.

For me, I’m just picturing what this situation looks like for my day 1 of trading my perfectly functional truck into a dealer, and hitting CEL all in the same day since I’ll be driving 200mi+ on purchase day. I’ve bought a number of vehicles in my life, and not once had a concern for whether I’d even make it home from the dealer. Crazy times.

I also got a very distinctive burning smell coming from the motor/exhaust so I think it can be melted cats.

lol this is seriously getting out of control. I don’t understand how nothing has been figured out. The trucks have been in the wild for like 4-5 months and still no idea what is happening. The more I read the more I am thinking I just want to get out of this truck before things get worse. Nothing will be as bad ass as this truck but I am starting to realize reliability, safety, and not having to worry about taking my truck on a long trip is more important. I am giving this 1-2 more months and if things don’t improve I think I will have to take the loss and move on. Who knows maybe ram will get off their ass and recall the trucks to fix them. Very discouraged that so many have issues, many of which are unresolved. Mine have been minor compared to most but none of this is acceptable.

I honestly think about this all the time. I traded in my perfectly functioning bmw x3m and I am really starting to regret it. Granted I needed the space which is why I was getting back into a truck but shit, this hurts going to a new vehicle that has a bunch of issues. I think I am more upset about the fact I thought about keeping it and getting a cheap used truck. Should have listened to myself on that one.

for real - i still can't believe that getting stranded in a brand new $80K+ truck is a legitimate concern

I'm waiting to see if the dealer is going to take a look at it later. Hopefully it's the cats and not anything else major

Also, I'm trying to login to the RAM app and it's not allowing me to sign in at all. I keep getting a login failure. Anyone else having issues with the app?

Nope. I can login just fine.

I’m curious on why you were doing WOT at 200 miles on the odometer? Seems pretty soon to do that kind of thing.

Maybe @Ctech-Review can provide an update/interview as this is well documented on the forum. He had a video with Mark Dodge and I think it's due for a revisit.

WOT at speed (not from stop) is recommended to seat the rings after 80 miles. Even if doing it from a dead stop, the result should not be melted cats.
are the break in recommendations in the manual?

Yes. Launch control isn’t available until 500 miles and no towing until at least 500 miles. And then go easy on the first 500 miles of towing .
