Is this is a thing? I hear a ding, and see blinking check engine light pulling up to a stop sign. I happen to notice the odometer is at exactly 700 miles. I start cussing and stuff, pull forward, and the light goes away. Is this a thing? I can pull codes later, but was curious if anyone else has seen this.

Had a car that the second the light was reset it would come back on, nothing "wrong" with the car. Electrical tape fixed the light being on.

Blinking is usually a misfire detected, you should be able to pull the code.

Update: the day before the scheduled trip to the dealer, the truck crapped out. Jumped it and took it in, they replaced the battery and installed a software update. Been running normally until today, lots of flashing CEL and misfire sounds when cold. Cleared on its own, then came back. Was at 9200ft altitude at my cabin. Once it warmed up, was ok. I guess back to the dealer we go.

Ya normal, that's the 700 mile cel check point

Update: Took it to the dealer, but the day before the appointment, the truck totally crapped out dead in the driveway. I jumped it and was able to drive it to the dealer. They replaced the batteries and updated software. No mention of the misfire issue in the notes, maybe they assumed it was related to the bad battery. A month or so later, cold, damp day at my property (9200 ft elevation) driving down off road, flashing CEL is back, and this time stays on for a while, obvious rough idle. Continues off an on for a few minutes, then goes away and everything back to normal. Finally got an appointment and they said they were able to see the codes, and flashed the MCU (is that right, it was a three letter acronym, or maybe it was the flux capacitor) and tell me it's "fixed" now. We'll see next cold day, which could be a while...
