Check engine light at 200 miles!?

Haven't even had it a week and the check engine light is on. Anyone else run into this?
 
Plenty of reports of CEL. Sometimes clears itself. Other times, it means your cats are internally melted. How’s it running?

Truck is under warranty, right?

Truck is running fine. It is under warranty just got it last Saturday.

Then, two choices…

Let it be & see if it clears itself after a number of start cycles…or,

Take it to the dealer & let them properly diagnose any issues.

Some will suggest disconnecting the batteries in an attempt to “reset” the PCM. I’ve tried that with no positive result.
 
Looks like its the P2AF6 code. Starter relay stuck off.

@tico1998 I just got in the same situation as you - CEL light at 85 mile sfirst day driving the truck. Is your issue resolved by fixing the starter relay?

The dealer has the truck now. I was still driving it but I would turn off the auto shutoff every time I drove it and doing that it was fine but still had the CEL light on. They are doing a bunch of tests on it and said it could be multiple things. They are looking at the auxiliary battery, PCM, and wiring. Initially they told me they didnt have a loaner car to drive and I said find one. They gave me a new car off the lot to drive. I also reached out to RAM and opened up a case.

I was driving mine and forgot to turn off the auto shut off and the truck turned off at a stop light and wouldnt turn back on. Finally I threw it in park turned off truck with push button and turned it back on. As long as I turned off that auto shut off feature it drove fine. Just really pisses me off that its not working straight from factory. Love the truck otherwise.

is the auto shut off is that button 'A" with an arrow around it near the 4WD cluster? I agree sucks to deal with on a new truck but I'm hopeful it will get resolved and just move on (and I got the extended warranty)

Yes sir. Thats the auto shut off button. Just got a call back from the dealer. My truck is ready to go. It was the auxiliary battery. They switched that out and should be good. I'll give you an update after driving it for a few days.

This exact thing happened to me today - thankfully I was able to get it restarted before traffic started moving.

Lol, also always remember to shift it back to P or it DEFINITELY won't restart. 😬

Code that popped was P2AF6 -
The P2AF6 code indicates a "Power Control Relay Stuck Off" issue, typically related to the vehicle's stop/start system, and can be caused by various factors including a stuck relay, wiring issues, or problems with the auxiliary battery.

The code description made sense so I reset it and the MIL is now off again

Yeah dealer ended up swapping out my Aux battery. Been driving it this afternoon no issues. Still turn off that auto shut off because I hate that feature.

After 3,500 miles today was the first time I forgot to turn off ASS (ha!) and I won't make that mistake again.

I'll also throw back on the charger tonight before I go to bed

You've done much better than me. I'm under a 1,000 miles still and never remember until I come to a stop for the first time. Then, I'm like a ninja seeing how fast I can press that damn button to keep it from shutting my truck off. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
 
I'm glad we gave up reliability for a .2 MPH gain.
