I owned a Billet Silver Level 1 truck for just over a month before negotiating a buyback due to numerous paint issues. The passenger door had some damage, though the dealer insisted they weren’t responsible. Running my hand along the fender and hood, I could feel the rough, uneven texture of the paint. There was also overspray on the windshield and passenger window. Frustrated, I raised enough of a fuss that they agreed to put my name on an incoming Granite Crystal Metallic unit. However, they called me yesterday when a Forged Blue truck became available after another customer canceled, and I was happy to take it instead. They delivered it to me, and the paint quality on this truck is a vast improvement—night and day compared to the last one though I still think Ram could step up their game in this department.

I’m thrilled with the new color; it’s striking yet understated, giving the truck a rugged vibe that suits my taste. I’ve noticed one small ding on the side, likely from the manufacturing process, which I’ll have them fix. Otherwise, so far, so good. I put 1,500 miles on the Billet Silver truck, and aside from the paint woes, it ran great. If you’re in Colorado and spot a Billet Silver truck with that mileage, take a close look at the passenger door and the paint overall—I suspect the dealer will have it back on the lot soon, possibly wrapped to hide the defects. Man I need to hire you for all my customer service complaints from now on. Absolutely fleeced em.
I don’t know that I fleeced them per se, I expressed my concern with what was very obvious after the first hand detail. Unless you were in direct sunlight these issues were hard to see besides the rough patches and the over spray. I’m glad I was able to get out of it though because I was pretty pissed off initially..

Way to hold them accountable. My FB only had very minor surface scratches to one side of the hood that were found only under fluorescent lights prior to ceramic coating. The area only required minimal paint correction along with a scratch on a plastic fender, which was repaired as well. Other issue was a misaligned tailgate that was repaired in a day. Enjoy the FB, absolutely beautiful color on the RHO.

I am under the impression, based on our own paint issues, that final assembly happens somewhere else. I cant see how may had hood alignment issues, paint issues etc if they were built on the same line as the 1500s.

Under the hood of mine, you could tell it was without a hood for a while based on water pooling marks in locations that never should have seen it.

Does anyone know how these are built?

Chris

Nevermind, guess they are built on the assembly line too.

But they DO suck at panel alignment, painting, and not scratching things. Oh, and everything software and electrical related. And communication.

Really liking the granite color. Mine is ordered in Black... but man that granite looks good!
