Dodge, Ram, And Jeep Vehicles Just Got A Major Tech Upgrade

None of that stuff interests me at all personally. Less tech and more affordability and reliability.

Personally I dont know how much I would use any of that except for the digital key which we should have already lol. I’m over paying for subscriptions in general and for the price of these trucks imo this stuff should be free for at least the entire warranty period of the vehicle.

I’m applauding Ram. Apparently someone heard/read complaints of paying for an app after buying a new $80K vehicle. New owners should not have to pay for basic functions in the app.

Agreed. Like what the hell is the point of being able to change the climate control on your phone lol?
That's about the only option that would get me to pay for it. I've got a couple dogs I can't leave home and I need to be able to leave the vehicle running during extreme hot/cold weather where I live. Being able to check and adjust this remotely is extremely useful for me and probably lots of other pet owners.

Highlighting the stolen vehicle tracking cracked me up, they know what feature will be used the most :ROFLMAO:

But seriously some of the stuff seems ok, I'm not crazy about the over the air software updates as I've heard too many stories of a bad update causing all kinds of issues. So having no control over that seems meh.

There has to be a way to turn it off otherwise the trucks would really never be tunable right?

Not trying to be a smart ass, I'm a dog person myself but I mean wouldn't you just leave either the heat or the AC running, like people have been doing with dogs in cars for literally ever? Do you really need to "adjust the temperature" from inside the store?

If this is similar to other vehicles, the primary usage will be for remote starts. You'll be able to set a default and modify the temp when you're remote starting in different weather.

I mean, yes, that's what I currently do with my Raptor, but I'm assuming there's a bit more nuance to it for the RHO and this update (mines currently being built so... 🤷‍♂️). The more "modern vehicles" I've owned have all had engine nannies that turn the truck off automatically after X number of minutes and/or limit the number of times you can use the auto start. I'm hoping remote climate means there's ways around this, if it's present. It's also nice to be able to set it to max hot/cold during an autostart to quickly get it to temp before getting in. Also, it might provide control over the seat heat/cool, which is a nice to have feature.

Maybe it'll be a completely useless feature the way they implement it, but there is potential to it. Maybe you have a bed tent and want to cool things off through the rear sliding window. Nice to not have to climb in and out of the bed everytime you want to tweak things. More choices is never a bad thing, but only time will tell if they're worth an extra monthly cost.

The killer feature I'm looking forward to is when your phone is the key to all your vehicles.
After that,,, have your phone tell the vehicle which driver profile to use when you jump in. (stuff like seat settings / radio presets / Spotify / etc)

Ditto! I don't understand why that's taking them so long to implement. They've been advertising it as a feature/selling point for over a year now.

I used to work with an ex-CEO of GM; we often talked about how far OnStar could have gone in regard to attaching a person's personal experience to their vehicle(s).

Your key fob does that now if it’s paired properly. My wife’s is set to her preferences and my key to mine.

The only thing that bugs me, it always pairs her phone first.

I can attest to the fact that phone as a key is awesome, I haven’t touched or taken my physical keys anywhere for the last month. There also hasn’t been any real issues with using it or battery drain with the passive entry.

And what if you're out and you lose your phone/drop it and break it/ or it just glitches? Other day at work my phone for no reason at all just bricked up. Eventually it was fine but maybe an hour later. That would have sucked if I was using the phone as a key and had to be somewhere on time.

That’s a risk you take but same could be said about physical keys being lost, broken or stolen. I still carry my keycard in my wallet just in case something happens to my phone.

And then when you bend over to pick up your dropped phone, the keys slip and fall through the storm grate. Crazy happens. I would guess that if you go the mobile route, you would stash the key card in the wallet for back up.
