Dumb Bedliner Question

Those that have spray on bedliner, were the plastic trim pieces that sit along the top side of the bed removed and then the rails were sprayed and plastic put back on or was the trim kept on and the liner sprayed up to the trim pieces?

It appears that the bedliner is sprayed after the bed is painted, but before any parts are added.

EDIT: Before any "covering parts" are added.

From past personal inspection, it looks like the liner was sprayed before the rail caps were installed but after the tailgate was assembled.
