So growing up my dad always said don't waste your money on extended warranties. Ordered my RHO March 1st and still is scheduled, and now reading these issues and thinking. Should I get extended warranty on this truck? Thoughts

Just posted in the introduction section. I have never purchased a warranty on anything in my life, did for this truck. Never had a vehicle finance manager talk me into one before until he said a replacement screen cost $4k. This is not just a motor with a steering wheel. Pretty sure the seats detect if you fart.

just read the manual. Interior has noise canceling with windows up. that's just silly.

Do you plan to keep truck more than 3-5 years? = probably a good idea for the extended. I think you can get it for a couple grand when your rho is new.
If you are going to sell it in 3-5 years = dont bother. Factory warranty has you covered up to 3 years (36k miles) bumper to bumper and 5 years (60k miles) on power train. If you drive alot of miles and will get out of warranty before the 3 or 5 years then probably wise to get the warranty.

I plan on keeping mine around 3 years and its just a weekend fun truck so I did not get the extended .

They will try like crazy to sell you on the extended warranty when you pick up your truck.

Lmao they literally said the same thing to me about the screen. If you are keeping the truck outside of factory warranty, extended is definitely smart.

Thankfully my truck was a temperamental bitch and Ram extended my warranty for free. They’re so expensive, but like others said, if you plan on keeping out of warranty, I think it’s a good idea.

I did mine through mopar/flexcare and with the plan I did I can actually cancel the extended warranty (provided I have not had to use it at all) and can get money back minus sales tax. I like this idea because I don't keep vehicles long, usually 3-5 years, but if I decide to keep this past 3 I am covered, if not I get most of my money back. Seemed like a win to me.

had extended warranty on previous car, never used it.. but thinking it might make sense to get in for RHO lol

Also the warranty I received is mile cost only. Meaning, if I sell the truck with 62,500 of the 125k I get half my money back I paid for the warranty. The dealer in addition provides a lifetime powertrain.

Well the plan is to keep it, as long is it is not a problem child.🤣

Fair. Lol Well its cheapest to get the extended warranty now when the truck is new so I'd jump on it. There are some threads on the best deal for it. I think granger but could be mistaken.

I'm thinking the same thing

I think the warranty is transferable. Check / ask for details. Selling a truck outright w a warranty will sell for more than trading into a dealer.

I found it cheaper to buy it when the standard warranty is about to expire. I know they say is opposite to that when you purchasing the vehicle, but my experience says wait, get it later if you feel like you need it.

extended warranty is a "for profit" business
extended warranty companies are making a profit

so... that extra cost, it's basically insurance. The purchaser is choosing to pay more for the assurance of not having to pay later. Thats the real decision to be had. How much is that assurance worth to you.

Just like life insurance, car insurance any insurance.

The company works with actuaries and know exactly how many people will die, suffer a loss etc and extrapolate those figures to help determine how much they need to charge based on the “known”, be affordable and still make money.

Factory warranties are worth it, would NEVER do any aftermarket warranty. I worked for Mazda corporate and saw it all.

What were the warranty terms offered? Was it bumper to bumper?
