Would someone help me understand how to insert media like a gif from somewhere like giphy into a post on here? Every time I copy the code from the giphy site, click insert media, and paste it into the enter media url box here, I get: "The specified URL cannot be embedded as media."

Someone take pity on the poor, dumb kid and show me the error of my ways, please?

I just copy the gif image and paste it in the chat body. Don’t copy the link, copy the image.

I right clicked the gif, clicked copy image, paste here. It inserts as a .webp file.

On a computer, I’ve found that you have to save the file (like to your desktop), then upload it to the forum. It’s easier on a mobile device - you can just copy and paste.
