If anyone didn’t watch C-Tech’s latest interview with MD, the dealer confirmed the Hemi IS COMING BACK! Maybe as early as Fall ‘25. As for details, those have not been released yet.

Personally, I think it will be good for Ram & Stellantis. As for our Hurricane equipped trucks, IDK. It’s a great engine, from a foundational standpoint. But for truck use, it’s too soft under 2400 RPM, IMHO. And they sound…well…not like an American truck engine.

This scenario “feels” a bit like the Mopar Magnum engine line. Once Hemi hit, the Magnum equipped trucks became invisible from a sales perspective & prices dropped drastically. Not that there was anything wrong with those engines. They were fine. But they didn’t sound like the Hemi & their output was lackluster, at best.

I’m not saying the Hurricane is destined to be the next Magnum, but history does tend to repeat itself.

Thoughts?

It does not look like it will end well for the Hurricane RHO. We better love our trucks and be in it for the long haul. When Ram puts a boosted hemi in the RHO (or new TRX), values will tank. Don't care that performance may be equivalent. The word "Hemi" is marketing gold - it's the primary reason Ram and Dodge were relevant the last two decades.

I thought values would tank too...until how I have heard a "new TRX " will come out...think super small limited volume and $140k+ dealer mark ups (obviously good dealers wont)...RHO will still be the go to as 99.9% of buyers wont be able to afford a higher HP TRX version.

-A new boosted or revamped Hemi is not coming out...people need to keep the powder dry. Set the expectactions of the same old 5.7 and a slightly higher HP TRX with 6.2 for a small limited run of trucks.

Hurricane will still be the go to moving forward for the Ram truck, but Ram is going to offer a basic hemi option to those that want it.

Pipe dreaming gents...The current Hemi (electronics etc) is not compatible with the '25 Ram electronic architecture. There is an interview somewhere on the interweb with a Ram engineer explaining this. My advice, get off the forum and enjoy your trucks...This is coming from a '20 EcoDiesel owner (who just ordered a new RHO) ... If I read and absorbed everything I read about the Eco, I would leave it somewhere on the roadside with the keys in it....

My sense is this is not reality. Anyone have the power/torque curves for the two engines? My sense is other than right off idle, the 3.0 would have far more power/torque at just about any RPM. I think in the RHO chassis, the 5.7 would be an absolute dog. Look at 0-60 vids even with the regular 1500s with the hemi vs. the regular output 3.0. Now, the 485 hp version is a different story. I still think the HO 3.0 beats it (2022 Grand Wagoneer vs. 2023), but at least it could get to 60 under 6 seconds.

This is a non factor to me. The regular hemi powerplant will underperform relative to what we have now. If they revert back to something like the TRX powerplant, it will occupy an entirely different market segment due to the price point.

This is like saying nobody will buy a Camaro because the Corvette exists.

This is a bit fuzzy, but here is the REGULAR 3.0 vs. the 5.7. The HP of the 3.0 passes the 5.7 around 2,300 RPM - and the torque is way ahead by 2,000 RPM. Again, the 5.7 to me is a non-starter. I'm sure the HO would make this comparison ever worse. If they do the 6.4, I think there would be interest. But, if the mileage sucks (and I'm sure it would), why not just get a TRX?

I wouldn't necessarily trust any info the dealer confirms about the manufacturer

Ohh yeah miss my 6.4 on power wagon it was a very quick 0-60 truck.. I think I was able to get a few times 0-60 just a smidge under 10 seconds 😁 rho also a little lighter probably but not by much so maybe will be able to get somewhere 7-7.5 0-60 lol

I think it's a good mill. Still won't keep up with the 3.0 HO, but it's respectable. Looks like 0-60 would be within about 1 second of the RHO. Here is the Grand Wagoneer 0-60 with the 6.4. My guess is with the bigger tires, it would be a bit off of this but maybe in the 5.7-6 second range.

Decent numbers if can get close to that. My 5.7 ren about 7.5-8 when I leveled it and put on 35s. Hated how sluggish it become.

It won’t be put in the RHO.

I bet it will be similiar to Ford. The current take rate in the F150 is 75% TTv6 and 25% V8.

Their Coyote engine is a superior engine to the Hemi. I suspect it will be an extra cost option with similiar take rate.

It will do nothing to the values of the RHO.

I highly doubt it will be that fast. I don't even think there will be a Hemi in 1500 in 2026. But even if it does, they're not putting 5.7 or 6.4 Hemi into RHO so there will likey be hellcat "RHO" or just new TRX in the future and it's going to cost almost double what RHO costs, which makes it uninteresting

Yeah - the RHO takes enough flak for being too slow/weak. Why would they cancel the TRX, release a watered down version of it (RHO) that receives some criticism and then release an even more watered down (sans the exhaust note) version of the RHO to "compliment" it?

Lets be honest..the only ones really complaining about the "lack of power" is the TRX crowd. And we already know that some of its jealousy of the superior tech, better mpgs and who knows what else :)

Electrical gremlins galore! Don't hate on me - I have one in the build stage as we speak!

I actually disagree. The ones I see complaining the loudest are the ones who learned about Hemis from Joe Dirt and couldn't afford either one, but want everyone to know they wouldn't be caught dead in an RHO.

1000hp Hellicrate and motec.. level0 rho, and beefed up transmission. Still cheaper then a trx if one can diy the motor swap. No idea how all the fancy suspension would work. But I do like the idea.
