Woke up this morning to my truck having power loss while trying to drive to the store and sounding like it might be misfiring. No check engine light came on and after I parked and restarted it everything worked fine. Normally I would take it straight to the dealership but the problem is that my wife and I drove 900 miles yesterday (no issues) from California to Colorado for vacation. To make things even worse my wife is a travel nurse so we aren't from California and have to get back to pick up our dog from the babysitter and finish the last 2 weeks of her contract before driving to Texas. 5400 miles on the truck with no issues until now .. any advice? Might make me sound stupid but I have never been this far from home with vehicle problems so I don't know what my next move should be lol

Had a similar issue with my last car while traveling to a vacation destination. The plastic fan came apart & punctured the radiator. Was super thankful it happened only a mile from our hotel. If it had happened on a remote stretch of highway, it would have been a huge, time-consuming, ugly mess. Yes, I had to drive back to pick up the SUV after repairs (a whole day affair), but it could have been a lot worse.

In any case, get it into the dealer & get a rental vehicle. Don’t ignore the symptoms & end up broken down 100+ miles from civilization. Or, take the chance if it’s running fine. I wouldn’t. But, I’m pretty conservative.

You mentioned you drove 900 miles yesterday? When are you leaving? Maybe take a bunch of local trips…see if it happens again. If it does, I wouldn’t trust it for a super long trip.

Appreciate the advice! We are leaving Friday morning so I'll drive it as much as I can around here and see if it happens again. Hopefully not .. but if it does, I will try to find a rental because there isn't much between here and California lol probably not the best place to get stranded.
