Does anyone know if you can get the running boards to have the step deployed while driving? I had these installed with the dealer and it's connected to the touch screen but it will only retract in and out when in park. As soon as you put it in gear they go in and can't get them back out. My issue is that I live about 1/4 mile down a gravel road and once I hit the asphalt pavement and reach cruising speeds the rocks from the gravel road start throwing rocks and hit the lower black paint and up into the body. Only have it a month and already some chips down to the metal. I knew it would be an issue so I did PPF around the whole lower section straight from the dealership and it still breaks the paint down to the metal. Also installed mud flaps all the way around and not much help. So if I can get the running boards to stay deployed while driving a mile after I get off my gravel road when all the rocks get kicked out of the tread I think it will save a lot of the paint... and these even stick out more than the factory running boards. Hope fully someone at Mopar is on this forum and help me save my paint!

Don’t have a sexy solution for you, but I do have a redneck idea.
Don’t latch your door all the way until you’re a mile past your turnout. Then open the door (while driving very fast), spit a big mouthful of chew out onto the road, and slam it shut.

Not sure if it’ll work with the Mopar boards, but it works with my Amp steps.

Creative...but I think that would make my door even more exposed to the rocks.

I just asked ChatGPT -

It says that AMP makes a Powerstep Override Switch. Says it's pretty easy to install and will work with the Mopar Boards. Anyone try it? They make 2 different switches and don't know which one is correct for my setup...Going to have to ask the dealer if it has a single plug control module or dual plug...this will determine which switch to buy. I hope this works!!! ChatGTP says its probably the dual plug since its new which would be the AMP Reasearch 79106-01A Over Ride Switch. I just bought one on Amazon for $59.99 and will be here in a week.

The controller, plugs and circuits are completely different on the factory power side steps module than the amp power steps controllers.

I had the Mopar retractable boards installed by Mark Dodge. They work with the door and there is an option to "stow" but nothing to "deploy" like I had in my 19 Longh.

I had a disconnect with my Amp steps on my Rebel. They actually put in a fuse disconnect under the steering wheel. It worked fine when I wanted them to stay open.
