This was a problem that plagued the TRX community, while it takes a certain person to notice that clunking from the drivetrain. ECD has came out with a solution already.

When do you typically hear this clunk, Nick? Wondering if I’m imagining it, or if that’s what I’m hearing sometimes in my truck.

For me, I noticed like on/off throttle in between gear changes if that makes any sense? I was like aw man these trucks do it too! lol

I had it very pronounced in my old big horn, but being the truck was a 40,000 & a v6 I don't think i was very in tune to it, it seems the more expensive the vehicle the more we can nit pick them lol

I got so used to it with my last few rams that i don't even notice it anymore because on rho its so much less. But yes definitely there if you trying to listen for it.

I suspect it will get worse - particularly in the hotter months. Mine always disappears in the winter, but comes back right about now (I've felt it a couple of times already in the past few weeks).

We really don't have winter here - we have cool, comfortable, and Nuclear Hell for temperatures throughout the year...

I haven't noticed any clunking, but this is my 1st RAM, so I'll listen more carefully...

I notice it most in very slow traffic, tapping the gas in 1st/2nd gear. I can hear it and feel it. Makes me cringe lol

So no "fix" for this from RAM other than, we are forced to either A. Live with it or B. replace it with the aforementioned third party drive shaft? WTF

Ram tried replacing them with a new part number, but the new one still develops a clunk. So for now, Ram's only fix is to take it apart and re-grease the splines. And that works...for a little while (couple thousand miles). Then the clunk comes back.

Frustrating as hell. Thanks for the information, it's helpful, now I know.

For what it's worth, some of the TRX guys just take it apart (and regrease the splines) when they change their oil. It supposedly only takes an hour or two. I haven't done it myself, but it doesn't look that difficult. Main thing is just to have a new clamp on hand for the boot, as it isn't reusable.

Appreciate that.
