Did my first hand wash today, when I got done and was drying it I noticed marks in the paint all along the rear passenger quarter panel. Hard to get pics of it but attached a couple. I didn't notice these when I picked it up but it was sunny and right in the middle of the afternoon. I tried to rub/wash them off and they wouldn't budge at all.

Not sure if it came like this from the factory? Or if I caused it. The only thing I can think of I could have done to cause it was I had the garden hose up in the bed while I washed the roof and bed of the truck and that panel would have had the hose rub against it while I was moving around. I can't imagine though a garden hose would cause that or cause it in a way it wouldn't just rub off...

Anyone have opinion on if factory defect or what?

Doesn’t look like a factory defect. I hate to say it, but it looks consistent with your description of pulling a hose up and down from the bed.

Ugh, I don't understand how a garden hose could have done that! Any options I have for fixing it?

See my attached photo. This is what the dealer did to my truck when they detailed it. Unfortunately it's on every single body panel. I had it 2 weeks and it had never been washed and it had to spe I was supposed to and over a month at the dealer for repairs. I asked them to clean it up so that I can make sure it had no scratches on it since it had been there a while and this is what I got back. So for me I'm planning to pay for some paint correction and reapplication of ceramic or graphene coating.

For yours, I'm willing to bet that if you take it down to a body shop, some light polish will probably remove it just fine. Should be quick and easy.

Looks like maybe they ran it through the automatic car wash.

It's not a factory defect but I have a hard time seeing a garden hose doing that..maybe.

Doesn't really matter at this point. Any detailer will be able to polish that out in ten minutes.

Do you have a “bed mat”? Most have soft rubber “nubs” on the back. If you or the dealer installed the mat, it would be easy to cause that type of damage by dragging the mat against the bedside.

No worries. It looks like something that will easily polish out. I bet the right person could use some “cleaner wax” or light hand polish & those marks would disappear in seconds.

Good luck!

Paint correction will get that. Go to a reputable detail shop and it’ll look good as new.

No bed mat, has the spray in bed liner from the bed utility group from the factory.

Thanks all for the replies! Going to see what the dealer says when I take it back for the battery module that went bad and go from there.

Found this pinhole raised in the paint back drivers door. Long story but had to take delivery at my house instead of the day before at dealer. Was delivered a little dirty from rain and dust. Washed it yesterday Sunday after two days and found this and a small dent in the middle of the same door.
Talking back to dealer Friday.
Also for Warning Light Illumination Unavailable Service Required Code came up Saturday. **This is also the code that came up at pick up at dealer hence why they had to deliver it to me 1.5hrs away the next day...
Crossing my fingers everything will work out since this thing is pretty awesome! Got lots of comments so far and only had it for a few days and driven 75 miles on it.

I can’t remember another vehicle having so many production quality issues as this truck. Maybe certain American brands in the 70s-80s? Of course, those vehicles were not nearly as complex.

Stellantis has really done a job on our Ram brand. The new CEO has his work cut out for him & I hope he can fix it.

My concern is that he writes the 2025s off as a lost cause. He wasn't CEO at the time, not his problem, might just focus on getting things right moving forward. I might be too emotional about the whole thing but I have very little faith left in this truck. I put out a few feelers on new Tundra TRD pros...we shall see what happens. I don't plan to force anything but if I get a good deal I think I may jump ship. Getting really tired of feeling like I need to have contingency plans every time I drive somewhere. Then I come on here and just keep seeing more and more issues, even people with build dates well into 2025. Seems like RAM is not addressing the issues.

Yeah my truck had same thing, it was pointed out to me by a shop that did my ceramic coating. They ended up polishing the entire side of the truck before the ceramic coat..

They said it’s most likely from transport. There was probably some protective plastic or straps that got lose and waved around in the wind during transportation slowly buffing the paint

I picked up some polishing compound and gave it a go by hand. It did improve some of the marks but there are still a ton there. The attached picture is after a hand polishing pass. I don't think a garden hose did this, that's way too much damage for something like that. Going to have the dealer look at it and see what they can do.

Looks like you introduced some “spider web” clear damage. Polishing compound is not for amateurs, though I appreciate your “can do” attitude.

Let a professional handle it.

I know it’s a small scratch but had to look at it every time I get fuel. Good news I have a great dealer and they are taking care of it.

Have an appt next Friday at the dealer and their paint guy will be there to look at the spots. I washed and clay bar-ed it today as I was going to ceramic coat the rest of it and leave that area until after they looked at it. I was inspecting everything closely before getting started and I kept finding more and more spots. Nothing was really visibly in normal light at normal distance but putting a flashlight on it I was finding all kinds of things. Including some kind of white stuff buried in some of the plastic trim that I couldn't clean off.

So in the end I opted to hold off on ceramic coating until after they look at it next week. 🤞They just have him do a polish on the whole thing and then I can ceramic coat it. If they don't though I'll probably look into getting a polisher so I can do it before ceramic coating it. Not sure where all these spots came from, if it was the factory or something else, but definitely some paint quality issues....

Oh I had the same issue with the gas door too, paint wasn't thick enough on it so it looks brownish in spots under light.

That’s almost exactly what I’m doing except my ceramic guy said he would take care of the paint defect . He’s doing it Monday I’ll post a picture when complete
