I'm getting PPF and ceramic put on later this week and had a quick question for those who’ve already done it. Does the glossy finish from the PPF and ceramic look weird over the flat black hood graphic?

I’m still pretty new to PPF and ceramic coatings.

If anyone has pics of their setup with the hood graphic coated, I’d really appreciate seeing them!

Mine goes in this morning for PPF, ceramic and had the same concerns. This is my first time having PPF applied with so much plastic/metal that isn't a smooth painted surface and with flat hood graphics. It sounds like the company I am using will PPF the hood, fender, and 2 fender pieces that extend to the bumper. In addition, they will cut out the graphics to maintain the two tone look. I plan on getting more information on what it means to 'cut out' when I drop it off this morning. I pickup the truck tomorrow afternoon and can send pictures if you want to see the results.

I did mine as well. They used glossy on all parts and matte ppf for the hood graphic. Came out very nice

I called a place a while back. You have 3 options:
1. completely cover the hood and decal which will make the decal glossy. They did this for a customer and he actually like it better so it's a preference thing.
2. Cut the pattern so the decal section is removed.
3. Remove the black decal and then replace with a new one top of the ppf. This is what I am going to have them do.

Or they can do matte ppf over the logo and glossy everywhere else.

That's going to leave a seam, however small it might be. Unless you top with ceramic, wax or sealant will cake in there eventually and be a PITA if you're as anal about your vehicles as I am

At least with the graphic over the top, have a raised edge only on one side so you can remove any unwanted remnants.

I went with the XPEL Fusion Ultimate Plus on everything + XPEL ceramic coating. That is gloss not matte, so all of the graphics including the hood. I think it looks great, but matte decals will have a gloss look. It's raining right now, so I can't show the gloss look, but what you can see is how the ceramic coating on the ppf and glass makes the water bead and run off. So much easier to maintaining a clean look.
