Want to know what sort of retention offers I can realistically ask for or what others have secured through Ram Customer Care?

Been dealing with some issues with my RHO… car has been back at dealer for 18 days now and I am stuck in an embarrassing Jeep Compass as a rental while they sort through issues.

Got an update yesterday that I need a the Digital Cluster replaced, but it won’t be available to order until July and because the cluster will have to be programmed with the actual true mileage on the vehicle they want to send me home with my truck despite some features not being available (if deemed safe to drive) and bring it back once the part is available to order and they can then program the True Mileage then.(Not sure I want to do this due to Lemon Law eligibility if I have to go that route.)

What are your thoughts?

Wish I could give you some good, sound advice.....but.....I have an RHO now BECAUSE my 2024 GMC 1500 AT4X had a 6.2L failure by way of a spun rod bearing (now a HUGE recall by GM as of last week). The AT4X is no longer mine as I traded it in for the RHO but it went in the shop 3/12 DOA and just got completed on Monday 4/29 with an engine replacement. Being that they were replacing it with another 6.2L L87 that I no longer feel I can trust I dumped it like a cheap date and snagged an attorney. Waiting to see what GM offers.....

FWIW....I'm sorry you're having issues....I know exactly how that feels, especially when they stick you in some shitbox rental that's not even close to YOUR vehicle and how frustrating it is to deal with. Not sure what state you're in, but I think most Lemon Law statues are worded along the lines of "out of service for 30 days or more (not consecutively) within 12 months (or 24 months in some states) then you have a valid case. Here in Texas it's 24 months and specifies "without a comparable loaner vehicle"....which is extremely misleading because according to my attorney most judges only take that into consideration if you use your vehicle for work (welding truck, towing, etc.). So that said, regardless of what the actual statue SAYS....it's perfectly acceptable for the dealership to stick me in a $30k shitbox Buick Encore GX while my $85k truck, that I tow my boat and other things with, is in the shop waiting for an engine. So make sure you do your research before you make any decisions.

Good luck...I truly hope you get it all hashed out!

Start talking to the service manager, the one that’s in charge, they can help with the process

I asked for an extended warranty. I got that, and then some. My case isn’t complete yet, so the monetary offer is TBD

They usually can compensate for time down if it’s longer than a month. It really depends your service manager really is the best person to deal with. Ram care is a fucking nightmare since they are overseas call centers

Any update on your cluster?

I'd be careful..

I've heard of dealers/manufacturers using the excuse that "They drove it for X miles with A, B, and C not working and were okay with it," while waiting for parts.

This happened to an AZ friend of mine in a 2003 Cobra. He had to get an attorney involved because they were trying to use this as an excuse not to take the car back.

The dealer could also be trying to limit your truck's time on their property to skirt the lemon law time periods.

Most states have lemon law clauses (18 continuous days, 30 total days, etc.) detailing the number of days a vehicle has to be in the custody of a dealer repair center to qualify as a lemon. Become familiar with the lemon law documentation in your state to help protect yourself.

Whatever you do, get it in writing, even if you must write it out yourself and have them agree. My Father-in-law is a product defect attorney and always states, "A verbal contract is only as good as the paper it's written on."

I personally would not accept the truck from them until it is mechanically sound and repaired to OEM standards.
For the $$$$$ we're paying for these trucks, it's 100% fixed, or it's theirs until it's 100% fixed...

UPDATE: Not sure if you guys are ready for this one.

Got an update on Monday that the cluster arrived but after the technician inspected the part he noticed a visible scratch behind the glass and told me he’d have to order a new part. Part is now scheduled for June 12th.

I’ve been dealing with the dealership and Ram Care separately and it’s an absolute joke. As of now Ram Care is offering to cover reimbursement of a rental to get me into an actual truck vs the shitty loaner I have now. As far as any other make goods they said they cannot offer anything until the repairs are completed.

So since owning my truck my car has been back at dealer a total of 37 days!!!!

Thankfully my dealer handed over the keys to a new Laramie off the lot while my truck was down for 35 days. I’ve seen numerous posts of people going past 40 days. So yes, we’re ready for this one. And no , we aren’t surprised.

It sucks Ram isn’t stepping up for you. Start a case with ram cares and call every day asking for a supervisor and a retention manager until they do better for you.

I already have the case open with RAM Customer Care… they are the ones saying they can’t offer anything until repairs are actually done. Just offering a reimbursement for a truck rental as of now.

I had an extended warranty through 75k(?) miles before my truck was done, as well as a compensation offer, that I declined and is still on going. You just have to stay on them. I literally left a voicemail daily. My case manager was awful, but my retention manager was awesome.
