Hey everyone,

I’m currently working on a custom intake system for our trucks that takes full advantage of the OEM hood scoop outlet. This setup will feature a larger, less restrictive filter compared to the stock one. The OEM filter is designed with off-road use in mind, which is why it’s so thick and restrictive.

With this system, you’ll be able to easily swap between the OEM filter and the performance filter that comes with it—giving you flexibility depending on your needs.

In the video, you can hear the turbo spool along with the OEM blow-off/diverter/bypass valve. The clip was recorded with the windows down for a better sound preview.

Are you just sourcing a filter with the same size collar or are you actually having something made ?

Yes, im sourcing the filters from a manufacturer here in the US. Its the same inlet size as the oem which is 4-inches but much larger. I looked into having a custom made filter but it'll be way to expensive for me to do so. I also can't risk tieing up funds into a filter when other companies already make quality filters.

I actually followed you and ran the 4" intake pipe got lucky and ordered a great piece of piping and some good clamps, but honestly it's not worth my warranty and I will remove it before my next long trip . You can hardly hear anything , not worth ending up with melted cats and catching the blame or any other flukes. Look forward to your progress and louder results

sounds good, feel any difference? Also, which exhaust do you have?

To be honest, I’m horrible at launching the truck, so I haven’t gotten consistent times yet. Once I finish everything up, I’ll be doing some 0–60 and 40–100 runs. My main goals were better MPG, sound, and then performance. So far, my MPG has increased by about 0.7 MPG — but that tank included some highway pulls and a couple of launches for recording the exterior intake sound. I plan on doing a 150-mile loop for MPG testing in the next two weeks.

How did you go about making your own exhaust? Just curious. And do you have a fab shop ?

I will have dyno numbers for the k&n soon...to each its own, I know how divided people are when it comes to intakes, just wanted to share for the ones that like them. I have always used k&n intakes on my vehicles and haven't had any issues. I worked in their r&d department and they are extremely professional and super knowledgeable. This thing sounds amazing and more paired with the MF catback. No issues with intake so far, just more smiles per gallon, better engine sound and more fuel efficient. My 2 cents.

I don’t have a shop—I work out of my garage. You’ve gotta start somewhere, right? I’ve got a horizontal bandsaw, a TIG welder, and a few other machines to help me make things. I recently picked up a large 3D printer for quicker mock-ups, too. I just love making parts and working on vehicles. There’s something really fulfilling about it—and it gives me a sense of purpose when someone enjoys something I’ve built.

That K&N intake was mainly made for the other trims. It doesnt fully seal against the hood. Still a good intake, just not specific to our trucks.
Yeah, they are making a new airbox. They modified the current one to better fit my RHO for now for testing. Actual production one will seal better.

Are you getting any more turbo noise from the intakes at all?
