25 RHO
Hey everybody! Ordered my L0 RHO on 4/29/24 and it finally arrived to my dealer on 4/18/25. Took delivery after pdi, checks etc on 4/21. I was so excited to finally have the truck...until I shortly started to hear a metal fluttering noise under acceleration around town. No check engine lights or noticeable issues. Brought it back to my dealership on 4/28 and the determined it was a bad turbo actuator and they'd have to order a new turbo. Great news for us (sarcasm), it's already backorder with a tentative ETA of 7/17! The dealer didn't recommend driving the truck so they put me in a loaner. I called RAM CARE, opened a case and they immediately assigned me to a retention manager. So far they've committed to making my monthly payments and insurance while it's inoperable, I assume to keep me happy and not just file for lemon law immediately once able.

What would you do? Wait until hopefully July and have them replace a vital component of a brand new truck, or file lemon law and buy something else?

These are complex trucks. Stuff is gonna happen.

Yes, a retention mgr, as the name implies, is there to keep you in the truck, not file LL.

I’ve looked at other options & none are perfect unless you want to get away from the Baja style 4x4 gas pickup.

I’ve not been an EV fan, but my wife’s Tesla broke that paradigm for me. They are hyper efficient & high performance, which is impossible at the same level in an ICE vehicle. They are also user-friendly, durable, low maintenance, and that instant torque combined with incredible smoothness is addictive.

I know people will say…”What about long trips?” Took the Tesla on a long journey because we don’t quite trust the RHO, and charging on the road was a pretty simple affair, if a little more expensive & it added 15% travel time vs gas.

So, I’m looking at the Hummer EV. Definitely not for those who can’t charge at home. Some would say it’s an inefficient hog of an EV. I’d agree, it’s inefficient for an EV, but just as efficient as a Honda Civic hybrid. Remember, ICE efficiency tops out at 30% while EV bottoms out at 77%.

Food for thought.

You have a loaner, they're paying your payments, and they're paying your insurance. You're already doing better than 99% of people who have problems. Most people are getting zero of these three from Ram.

With these three factors I would wait it out. With what you paid for the L0 you're not going to find anything remotely comparable to the value.

yeah I was about to say that! I didn't get loaner or got paid for insurance (but also my truck was in shop 24 days so less than month). I'll be sending them invoice for the rental though

As long as the loaner is an RHO and they fix your truck I would keep it. If they put you in some POS loaner vehicle and keep pushing out the repair date I would lemon law it.

That noise sucks but seems common. It’s the little metal arm on the actuator that rattles due to harmonics at certain RPM’s. It is very annoying. Some days mine is worse than others. I opted to not have my turbo replaced for now. I’ll probably just do the spring mod someone posted on here first. No telling if a new turbo will be any better or worse. My guess is they’re trying to come up with a solution and that’s why turbos are “back order”

What exactly does this issue sound like? I’ve had an almost metallic ringing noise that Varies along with rpm since I’ve had the truck. Not sure if this is the issue.

It’s a “metallic rattle” mine is exclusive with throttle input. I’d say from 5-10% throttle input I can hear the rattle. As soon as I let off, it goes away. I can also lightly press the gas in park to get the noise and then push on the metal lever that’s rattling to get it to stop.

Someone did a write up on it, with pictures and an Amazon spring kit to help it out.

Ok. Yea, that sounds like my problem. I can hear it while cruising and light throttle pretty much all the time

This is a picture of the arm that rattles,
As well as the spring used to tension it. A little janky, but possibly better than a complete turbo replacement.
