RHO with Hellwig rear sway bar kit installed…

Well I don’t mud this truck but it is my daily source of transportation. That said it always felt squishy in the rear so I decided to add the Hellwig sway bar. After a few drilled holes the kit bolted right on up. Now the ride is nice and tight and not swaying all over when quickly changing lanes.
Not sure this has been done yet to an RHO but if you street drive yours most of the time I recommend this mod for sure. It’s also easy enough to take off if you decide to get it in the dirt on the weekends.

pretty sure there is at least one here with the kit installed. Actually will be putting sway bar on soon too, already bought the bar (from regular 1500) and will add custom links, it will cost around $200 total which is a price that piece of metal should cost lol! Just waiting for fall so it's not that hot outside

I don’t cut corners super fast(in the RHO) but I’ve found most vehicles exceed the driver’s capabilities.

This truck is beyond badass to me. It hauls our boat impeccably, rides very close to our Longhorn with air suspension and kills most any vehicle in 0-60 or the 1/4 mile.

My question, and I mean no disrespect , why would you add it?

Well I lifted the truck 2 “ and then added 37” tires to it. So after this it just felt a bit loose for me in the rear when changing lanes on the freeway or if I had to dodge road debris quickly while driving. Now this thing is planted to the road and it’s a night and day difference.

Which Hellwig model did you get? I installed the Hellwig RO specific model bought from 797 Performance about two months ago and it’s been fantastic. There was not any drilling required. Articulation off road is still pretty good even with the sway bar on the middle setting. Not sure how it affects any higher speed off-roading but if what you’re worried about is losing traction due to the wheels not articulate enough I don’t think that’s much of a concern unless your doing serious off-roading.

Nope this thing won’t see dirt unless I get ran off the road. Yes it is a very worth mod to do in my opinion. Got the kit on the cheapskate price so a little drilling didn’t bother me to do. I think it was the 7883 kit. You should post your kit # up for others to see in case they want a direct bolt up one.

I’m thinking it was a 3/8’s bit but just look at the bolt size in the box and match it up to that. You will also need to drill out the nuts to hang the sway bar end links. That will take a short 7/16 bit due to tight clearance. Unless you pull the tire off but it’s doable with it on. Also no tap needed if you just add a nut to the other side and lock it down.

i just tried installing the Hellwig RHO rear sway bar and had all but installed except for the last Ubolt to attach the sway with the brackets but it was incorrectly bent by the Hellwig meaning I could not install it as there is no flexing the ubolt enough to make it work - very frustrating.

I have reached out to Nick at 797 for help - I realize this is not there fault but hopefully they can help to get me the correct fitting ubolt.

If you’re not a big off road person and want to push this truck on some lefts and rights it’s a great mod. Just pulled in from the weekly 100 mile 2 lane light traffic twisty drive I have been doing for 25 years and this truck with the sway bar and lowered rear to level it has makes it sooo enjoyable. It also really helps with towing along with some bags.

Agreed. I installed the rear anti-sway bar last week and it made a huge difference on the mountain switchback roads that I drive.
