Got my Linex equivalent of the MX4 bedcover installed when my truck was new & hit the trails a week later. Never had a bed cover on any of my previous trucks. To my surprise, upon opening the tailgate, it looked like a 20lb bag of fine dirt had exploded in my bed. Ha!

A fellow forum member explained the tailgate gaps need to be sealed. Apparently, the air & dirt traveling under the truck gets routed into the bed by the rear bumper. The bed cover keeps the dirt from exiting the bed. Who knew?

Anyway, I just installed the ESI tailgate gap and seal kit (Amazon). They have good instructions specifically for the new body style Ram 1500 that I found online. Took a couple hours to get everything exactly cut, lined up & firmly adhered. As they suggested, I got into the bed & closed everything up. Only a couple small areas of light visible. So, not a perfect solution, but should keep most of the dirt out.

So, if you plan a bed cover, also plan to seal the tailgate! Good luck & safe travels.

Truck should be here in two weeks, but cover and tailgate seal already sitting in garage waiting for it.

Yeah I haven't installed it yet was worried if it'll affect the power tailgate. I saw the one you linked as well I thought that was only for the sides
Have not installed it, but under the impression it covers all the sides and the bottom. Wondering how either of them will work with the spray in bedliner.

You don’t need the XL for Ram 1500. And, there is a kit that includes the bottom seal and side seals…just under $50. This one works with the power tailgate.

I originally was going with the weatherstrips all around, but read from others it can cause the power tailgate to malfunction.

The ESI kit includes adhesion promoter that works well with spray in liners.

Talking about this kit? Did you install it on an RHO yet? Any issues with spray in bed liner?

Gotcha thanks! Good to know it'll work with the power tailgate and spray bedliner. Gonna order it and return the other one

I’ve read the weatherstrip type seal run along the horizontal gap, can impact the power tailgate operation.
Going to return and try the one you ordered since no issues with the tailgate.

Yes, that one!

I don’t have a spray-in liner, but they give specific curing instructions if you do. I watched a couple YouTube videos on the topic & the adhesion promoter is key. Don’t use it sparingly…they give you plenty in a pen-type applicator. Just use it on the area where the RokBock installs.

FYI…if you plan to ever remove your tailgate, there is another kit out there that only adheres to the bed side & just slides against the tailgate. But, it’s not really a tight seal…it is just meant to keep stuff from falling into the crack between the tailgate & bumper when loading & unloading the bed.

Ok will lay that adhesion promoter thick! Have never removed a tailgate in my life so probably won't happen. Thanks for the pointers!

I have never removed a tailgate, either. The RokBlock might be a good theft prevention device.(HA!)

Just hoping my power tailgate never malfunctions & requires service. If it does, I‘ll deal with it at that point.

I'll just fold the tonneau cover up, leave the tailgate down, and go for a quick drive around the block! LOL! No more dust! :ROFLMAO:

Dust is one of the seasons around here. I haven't noticed much in the truck bed.

Easy peasy…I like it!
