Ever since my truck arrived , every time i put it in Drive after i start it, i get the "service active dampening" . I searched the forums and found no RHO had had this issue yet, so after reading through the TRX forums, it was usually in brand new trucks like mine and a quick fix, the dealer lifts the truck on lift so tires are free hanging and resets the suspension module. I finally got my truck into the dealership and they told me my front right shock was throwing the code. They checked all connectors and pins, cleared the code , tested the shock and then drove it. Said it was all good to go. I picked it up today and go to drive home, of course i immediately get the service active dampening message....WTF... im going to call them tomorrow. Any ideas? Seems to ride the same as when i dropped it off and i cannot change suspension mode in my auto drive mode. The dealership claims a hard impact can cause this, the truck has had no impacts whatsoever since its new. Plus people jump these things all the time and do not encounter this....super weird.

I don’t think you can change suspension mode while in auto. You have to use custom.

My truck three that fault, along with a few others. Dealer replaced both batteries and I haven’t seen it since.

You can. I have mine set to Baja in Auto.

I had this code pop up about 6 weeks ago. First day or so I didn’t think much of it but the third day the suspension was absolutely horrible. Felt like I was driving on bricks - active dampening definitely does a lot for the ride comfort! Brought it to Koons who found a lose connector within 15 minutes.

Haven’t had the code pop since.

UPDATE:

Finally got the truck back to the service center for my appointment today. They just called and said they think the front passenger shock/strut itself is bad. They ordered me a new one and will install when it comes in. Very odd

Update #69: after over a month since the last appt., the strut finally came in, took the truck in for the appointment today. They replaced the strut took it for 2 test drives and they couldn't get the "service active dampening" to go away once again. I guess now they are going to order a new control module. They had no clue when it would be in.

Honestly frustrating as hell. Its been to 4 appointments now for this and its a fucking hassle. Closest dealership is 30 minutes from my house so adds to the pain. Not sure how they are this incompetent. 5 appointments for the same thing and maybe they can get it done?

Why would they think they need to replace a specific strut then when it doesn't fix it they decide to replace entire control module? They literally told me the strut through the code. I cant even talk to the service advisor about it, just the scheduling lady who is clueless as hell.

Time is the most precious thing and I am so sick of these worthless appointments. Fix my damn brand new truck already. Lol. If it was something serious that effected the truck more seriously I would be even more annoyed .

They have no loaner vehicles so I have to have my wife shuttle me back and forth. 1 hour of driving per visit. Ill stop bitching because people have had it way worse but God damn this is annoying. 4 months to fix a simple thing. Every single thread about this on the trx forum says it was an easy reset. Maybe my local dealership is just that incompetent. Amazing im the only one in this forum who has had this issue.

Rant over! Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I hear your frustration and would be too. I hope the module fixes this issue. Please keep us informed if it gets fixed. Every member who shares issues and solutions is a MVP.

Unfortunately this is all too common in the maintenance industry these days. I often wonder what percentage of replacement parts were never faulty.

I had an ambient temp sensor issue on my last Ram. They replaced that sensor 3x, ripped apart my entire door, replaced that whole panel due to damage they caused during removal, replaced wiring harnesses, and still didn’t solve the issue. A few months later I had other problems which led them to replace the body control module, which fixed the ambient temp issue.

They’ll just keep swapping parts hoping for the best, and I’m really curious where those fully functional removed parts go to die.

I will keep you guys posted!!!

It is rather annoying how modern vehicles are such a pain in the ass to fix. I feel like this trash new electrical architecture from stellantis is the real culprit. There is so many random electrical gremlins on these trucks and only thing that changed is the new architecture. Dealership is the only people who can work on them and they cant even fix shit.

I pray after this is fixed i can just continue to enjoy this truck. Its such a gem, makes me smile like a kid every time i drive it. It really has been flawless and the dealership is just trash at fixing a simple ass thing. Their google rating is like less than 3 stars. LOL. Slim pickins in Montana.

I will say as an engineer, sometimes we are so fixated on meeting demands from Government mandates and marketing “gurus” we don’t take a moment to even ask if this will add value to the product. Like most things Government regulates, the added complexities of tighter emissions and safety mandates have increased prices exponentially while simultaneously decreased reliability. Not to mention all of these modules, sensors, misc parts with proprietary programming will culminate in a disposable product. Because who is going to be supporting these 10 years down the road?! The ultimate irony for those claiming we need to save the planet will instead be responsible for the largest addition to landfills in generations. **steps off soapbox**

RAM - The new 'Alfa Romeo' of electrical problems! (Look out BMW and Alfa, RAM is gunning for your crown) 😉🤣 Yes, the BS new electrical architecture is causing the vast majority of issues. I feel lucky that my RHO hasn't had any issues outside of a plug/pin not being connected for my climate control system, once that was plugged in the truck has performed flawlessly.
