If you plan to have your dealer arrange the shipping, do yourself a favor and get your own quotes ahead of time just like you should get quotes for interest rates if you are financing. My dealer was a little busy this past week so it took them over 2 days to tee up shipping/transport. While waiting I got some all in quotes to ship it, and I am on the hook for about double what I could have done it for on my own. I’m paying $1,100 for 1,360 miles and I had (5) offers from $485-$650 within an hour of posting on a transport board, all fully insured and all fees included. You don't get any additional protections from the dealer that is setting up the transport for you compared to setting it up yourself. Lesson learned - save yourself some easy money. Hope this helps a few of you save some coin!

Where did you find those prices? Where to where are you shipping? Those low rates seem to be quite a bit lower than they should be.

I posted mine up on 'movemycar.com' where they put it out to carriers to bid on shipping your car, but there are multiple sites you can go to that will but the job out for bid. I put in to pickup within 24 hours and the pickup and destination, I received about 14 total quotes within 5 or 6 hours, but I had a bunch hit within the first hour. The earliest quotes were from Movewheels Auto Transport, Broadway Auto Transport, Dynamic Auto Movers, USA Carship, and Safe Auto Trucking. *Edit - I attached a few of the quotes and contact info for anyone that wants receipts...

GREAT INFO!

To piggyback of that, "drivers are licensed and insured", when getting quotes, you'd also want to find out how much they are insured up to per vehicle, and aggregate limits. For instance, some of those quotes I found list "insured up to 100k". The language uUp to" is problematic and if it's "up to 100k for all cargo" (aggregate limit) then this too would be cause for concern. As a rule of thumb, I'd want to make sure the transporter has min of 100k per vehicle transported and aggregate in excess of 1 million. Just in case the worst-case scenario and they roll or otherwise damage the whole lot.

I wonder if the ones that Mark Dodge use are vetted regulars, or if they just go through a site like this?

Good add @Cautionary Tale. I thought the dealer would have certain transporters that they work with, but they said they put it out for bid and don't necessarily have 'go to' transporters. The difference is that they put it out for bid at a dollar amount that they pick, when you put it out for bid yourself then you get the transporters giving you their lowest bids to fill up their truck to not have a wasted empty trip somewhere.

Does anyone have any experiences with mercury auto transport?

I don't. They weren't one of the companies that responded to shipping my RHO. **EDIT - I found their email, didn't save the text for some reason. Price wise they were competitive, just a touch over the average bid but still over $300 cheaper than the $1,100 that I paid.

I haven't used them yet but they responded immediately after filling out quote form.
Devils in the details, so make sure you read thoroughly. Some of those companies are most certainly just logistic companies that outsource the job, so you'll want to know what is what.

Which company did you ended up choosing? I have to ship mine from MD to south California. I'm looking close to 1600 miles

I had committed to MD to set it up thinking it would save time. It was an independent - ‘VZ Transportation’. Next time I will set up my own transport with a larger, well known company for less money. No damage that I saw, but I could have set it up cheaper and quicker myself.

Damn, thanks for the attachments. I was quoted from some place name escapes me but for $1600 to Vegas. wth? 😂

I would bet money that you can easily get it for under $1,000 to Vegas.

I went to movemycar.com just to get a few quotes and my phone has been getting bombed with phone calls and text messages lol. Anyone heard of Broadway Auto Transport? I'm getting quoted at $1050 for 1600 miles seems pretty reasonable.

Did the same also and got hit up by shipwit and broadway. It's tough, when you look up reviews its so mixed. I think it's luck of the draw who they dispatch and the service you get. Is this essentially what MD will do, pick a random broker company?
