Clapped out Tesla for commuting
I saw something interesting on Facebook today. Someone posted that the lower plastic insert sticks out and has a sharp edge. Mine does the same, but never really thought anything of it.

Someone mentioned it was the wrong insert out of a limited and the correct insert is supposed to be carbon fiber. Has anyone else noticed having the wrong piece??

Mine is the carbon fiber

Mine doesn't sit perfectly either...I think carbon fiber is for level 1 and the more brushed look is level 0? could be wrong on this.

That would make sense. I have a base model
And it’s the brushed one.

MIne is the correct one but not where near flush lol

Same - I notice it all the time when grabbing the bottom of the wheel. I thought I was only one just nit-picking little shit.

Need someone with a base model to chime in if they have the carbon insert

I think the op is level 0 so the theory holds water so far...

All that said, I have thought about buying a new/nicer steering wheel...then I saw they are like $700 bucks.

I also noticed this on our truck. Not really sharp enough to cut but noticeable nevertheless. Almost like it doesn’t fit properly or is slightly the wrong part.

That was me- I never even thought about the Level 0 vs Level 1 insert being different. I just know mine should have been Carbon Fiber and when I called Mark Dodge to ask about it they said it looked like it was the Limited insert.

For those that aren't flush, before I had mine replaced, I pried it up a little more until I was able to pull it out and then was able to re-seat it where it sat more flush.

mine looks like yours, Level 0

I just about had a heart attack! I looked up the price of just that fancy little carbon fiber inset. It lists for $1695! 🤯

Just looked at a couple and level 1 for sure has the carbon fiber look while Level 0 has the non carbon fiber insert.

I used to look up carbon bits for fun when I worked at a motorcycle dealer. Ducati and BMW were the same way. Some wheels were $10k plus a piece.
