had the RHO a little over 1000 miles now and have used or been in the bed a few times. I have had 4 instances now where the tailgate step starts to close depending on how I step on it. once as I was getting out of the truck the step started sliding closed and damn near killed me. The same issue happened to my boss yesterday when he was helping me unload something from the bed. I am very deliberate now on how I step on it. I used to have the same step on a Rebel and a TRX and I do not recall ever having any close calls like this. 4 in 3 weeks... Has anyone else with an RHO had any issues to report on the rear step?

Someone reported this on 5th gen. This make me believe that they went with a cheaper design, because my 22 step was solid.

I've had zero issues with the step, it feels rock solid. It takes some effort to push it back up.

Ate there bolts to just take it off easily? I was thinking of doing this anyway....don't really care to have it on there to begin with.

I was wondering the same. How easily can the step be removed?

I checked mine out today. It’s similar to the one on my 2020 Rebel, but a slightly different design. My old step was very stiff. The new one seems easier to deploy and return than that one. I’ll keep that in mind when I use it for possible collapse.

I’ll keep an eye out for mine after delivery. Were your earlier issues resolved? How’s the MPG at this point?

Would you be interested in selling the bed step?

Anyone selling a bed step take off, please let me know. Thx

Ok, thought you guys were crazy.

But now I have had 3 near death experiences with that damn thing. The most recent at the dealership taking pics of the truck roof etc. I hit my shin so hard, I’m sure I bruised the bone.

I told the rep to let Ram know it’s dangerous. The previous design I had no such issue.
Rant over.

Well wait, I love the truck but without the tune, and pedal mapping, it’s just that much less fun. :)

It's happened to me twice now.

Once last week, while I was loading up trash for our town's "BIG-Trash" trash day...

Happened again yesterday when I was loading up cans and bottles for a run to our local recycling center.
