Hi All, looking at tinting my front windows and taillights. Prices are varying a lot shop to shop and I've never had it done before.

What's a reasonable price for each?

That's going to depend on your location, all windows, what percentage etc. You'll need to call around my friend. Do the tails yourself buy a kit off Amazon.

PA/MD area, match the factory rear (20% the shop thought), and do you have a recommend on the material for the rears? Lots of options, and I'm sure a lot of junk.

I think Vivid makes them for headlights and rears

A lot of us are also doing the "ceramic tint" or UV/Heat blocking tint. It can be clear or tinted. Keeps the cabin cooler. In that case, you'd obviously want to do all of the glass, even if you didn't want to darken it. So that would add more cost for a more expensive material and more glass surface.

I'd never heard of it before I came to this forum, but I had mine ceramic tinted last month, and I'm so happy with it. Keeps the cabin cooler in the direct sunlight.

Did you do the windshield? Clear or tinted?

I don't think I want tint on it but if I can get a clear with helping reduce some uv/heat damage on the dash I'd be in favor of it.

Yes. I did all glass surfaces: windshield and the sunroof, all windows, rear windshield.

I tinted sides and rear to 20%, windshield at 35% and sunroof to 50%.

My shop used XPEL XR PLUS

The cabin is noticeably cooler in direct sunlight. Very happy with it

You can go 70% if you want it lighter. It’s virtually not tinted

Here’s a couple pics

That turned out really good.

Quick question - did you have them measure the factory rear side window tint percentage? I thought it was already around 20%, so I am curious if they just applied a 90% film over it, or something?

Great question, as I asked the same thing! They measured the rear glass at 23%, so they put the lightest tint (70%) over rear windows and rear windshield. They are now ever so slightly darker than the 20% on the front windows, but you wouldn’t know if I didn’t tell you.

I was going to do 50% on the windshield, but they talked me into 35%. I’m so glad they did. If I I had to do it again, I may even do 20% on the windshield. Doesn’t affect me driving at night so far.

I’m in the Northern VA area so somewhat close. I recently had everything tinted with ceramic, with exception to the windshield — no tint on the windshield. $500. Definitely notice a difference, especially with the darker tint on the pano roof. Seamed like a fair price but I didn’t do a bunch of research.

I had them match the fronts but without tint on the windshield it’s tough for a perfect match.
