It is nearly impossible to get to the thermostat for the average consumer, we went down this rabbit hole early on. The factory thermostat is quite silly using a plastic ball and spring design. (Over engineered).

Couple of companies have made stuff to convert to a conventional style t-stat but that wouldn't work in our trucks without setting a CEL.

Has anyone with an RHO or Hurricane Ho powered vehicle actually had a thermostat problem ?

I was curious about this too. I took a recent trip to Ouray, CO to hit some trails. While in 4LO and uphill on switchbacks, my temp was well past the halfway mark on the dash. Sat closer to the 3/4 mark almost all the time while climbing. On descents it would cool quickly. Other than that, no issues. I figure it's just the nature of being in 4LO and 1st gear but it had me worried.

I was actually curious whether anyone was still having thermostat issues but let's just stay in our lane and worry about our own posts. All 19 of 'em.

I don't recall anyone mentioning they had issue with thermostat on the RHO. I guess it's the older Wagoneers. Does it even use the same one? As RHO has all those coolant routes and electric valves

Agreed Faze, that's why I asked the question. I've never heard of it as an RHO issue either. The original Waggie's were a big problem but that old design was changed quite a while ago.

25 RHO and 24 GW3 w/HO Hurricane, No Thermostat issues. Both have chewed batteries though. HO Hurricane has been good to me in both. It’s the ankle bitter recalls, software, seat belt anchor, trailer light, etc. Oh, and the elusive digital key!! That’s coming, so is Christmas. Minor stuff. I’ll take it over all the engine issues at other Manufacturers. Still love both vehicles!!
