Has anyone done their 1st oil change? No place around me carries OW-40 full synthetic and they admit they have never changed the oil in a RHO. Trying to avoid going to the dealership. Curious if anyone has had trouble finding a spot or is it just me?

I took mine to the dealer, and will continue to for documentation during the warranty period.
Any particular reason you want to avoid your dealer?

First oil change is free so just had them do it while they were replacing a module.

I’m sure a local dealer has the oil in stock along with filter if you’re having trouble finding it elsewhere. Just swing by your local dealers parts counter.

Everyone's first one is free? No one told me that.

Maybe I should have said *was free instead of *is free as maybe not all dealers do this. Yeah, my local dealer does first oil change for free on all purchases.

My first one was free as well and I wasn't aware it was free. I did go back to my selling dealer for it though. My local Walmart has it in-stock.

If you purchased your truck from your local dealer, I don’t think it would hurt to ask. I didn’t find this out until I told them to add the oil change since they already had the truck for something else (sales guys never mentioned first was free). When I asked how much an oil change was, the manager said first is free since you bought it here.

But I know a majority of people purchased from the couple large volume dealers, not local dealers so it wouldn’t be worth asking in this case.

I wish mine was free! I bought from Mark Dodge but took it to a local dealer in San Antonio to get the 1st one done and was blown away that it cost $160 for a basic oil change.

The 10 year 100k miles maintenance plan is really worth it if you can find right price. Includes all air and engine filter replacement at recommend service intervals also includes all fluid changes and spark plugs plus 10 oil changes and tire rotations. Price through my brother was $1260. I did end up going with 20 oil changes package and it makes it not as great of a deal but for $2100 I think it's still good.

This is why I don’t wanna go to a dealership, I bought mine at mark dodge as well but live in Dallas. Went to a valvoline shop and they had the oil and 7 quarts was $110 but they were looking for the dip stick and once I saw the kid call over 2 other ppl and they were looking at my engine like they saw a ghost I told them I’d take it somewhere else.

I got the 100k warranty, so if I go to a dealership, does that cover the oil changes?

And this is why we go to the dealership. LOL. Those guys at valvoline were probably flipping burgers or doing door to door sales for an exterminator last week for a job.

At least the dealership will have a clue along with the correct oil.
Just take it to a local dealer near you. I'm sure Dallas has plenty.

Got the oil on Amazon. Decent price, if you buy the 6-pack. $46 right now.

Dealer supplied the filter…$10

Also, get this filter removal tool…

I took my C7 Z06 to dealer for 1st oil change at 500 miles. Cringed as the tech, who looked about 16, couldn’t get it into 1st gear because he couldn’t depress the clutch fully. Lots of grinding of gears ensued.

Then, nobody in the oil change shop knew how to check the level on a dry-sump. It’s the reason many Z06s went home to owners’ garages & burped a quart of oil on the floor thru the intake. That was good for those intake ports!

Yeah…I only trust a few shops in my area to do oil changes. Like, one shop.
