2025 RAM RHO
I have had my new RHO for 3 weeks now and I have 425 miles on it currently. Today I got the dreaded check engine light, so when I got home I read the codes and they read P0420 and misfires on banks 4,5,6. I read earlier from a post this could be a software glitch, a melted or damaged catalitic convert etc.......I'm concerned and frustrated but others are apparently experiencing the same issues. I could not find the earlier post so I made a new one. If anyone has any new updates pertaining to a resolution I would appreciate the input! The truck starts and idles fine but it has hardly any power. Dealer said they have no idea for a fix at this time.

Wait what? They have no fix at this time and they are doing what about it? Keeping the truck until they figure it out and giving you a loaner?

the dealers never know what wrong with vehicles any more...they submit a ticket to the engineers back at RAM and then work out fixes back and forth until something works. the dealership mechanics are their for oil changes, brakes and tire sales

Can you ask them to keep it until it’s figured out and then if it’s over 30 days out of service then claim lemon law..?

Check for TSB on your vehicle ( Technical Service Bulletin ) from Ram site.

Wonder if the OP was able to Lemon Law that truck? Definitely sounded like melted cats.

Watched a new YT video from our favorite Ram TRX tech who says this cat issue is becoming a common Hurricane repair, especially on fleet vehicles such as rentals. Of course, Ram is silent on the actual cause. He speculated the tune was “too hot”. Or, it was just a bad batch of cats.

I’ve got 1600+ miles, mostly grandpa style driving, but that will be changing now that I have fresh oil. Fingers crossed my cats don’t melt.
I was told by my case manager that Stellantis is no longer approving buy backs you would need to either try to go thru arbitration or lawyer up that’s why mine was denied when I requested a buy back. So far I’ve had no other issues, though it is getting seen today for a coolant leak.. I think it’s because repair dealer on the cats didn’t install the coolant clamp and hose on properly. I would have them open an engineer case once it’s at dealer @SDMatt and you open one on the customer end. I was able to get some money back on the 41 days with no vehicle and an extended warranty on mine.

41 days and you were not able to get a lemon law file opened?

We reached out to an attorney but could not get approval from Stellantis itself for a buy back. We were later told by a case manager we would have to seek arbitration or get a lawyer to file for lemon law. We decided not to go that route as the truck was fixed and finally ready for pick up. I love the truck and didn’t really want to lemon law it I just wanted it fixed and running like it should. I’m sure we could have pushed to lemon law it but I didn’t push that side too much. Stellantis gave us money for the time it was down and a good extended warranty on it too so for now I’m content, it did suck it was down for so long but the cats took awhile to get ahold of which working in the business myself I get it and just wanted some compensation for the headache and it not even making it home and I got that from them

Oh ok that makes perfect sense. I’m glad you got the truck back and hopefully those gremlins are all gone.

Arbitration is generally a loser when the big guys are pushing for it . . . be glad you didn't pursue that!

Mine in the shop finally. Has been diagnosed as melted cats like yours. They said the codes were cleared but they'll keep coming back until the cats are replaced. We both had early builds so maybe a bad batch. Fingers crossed, parts said 10 days to get. Thanks again for all your help! Hope yours is running great!

Oh crap! Yaaa I’m going to assume they are probably becoming more readily available so 10 days is not too bad! So far mines been running great. Maybe while the cats are out have them inspect the transmission heater coolant line my clamp from the factory was not attached correctly and I have a small coolant leak and the cats have to be removed to replace that line I’m waiting for my parts to arrive on those then I’ll bring it back to them

SDMatt & daniellelaven022 - did both of your cats fail, front bank, or rear bank? I think danielle - that you said cylinder 4,5,6 misfire (bank 2 cat failure)

Dealer said they're replacing both my cats.

Both of my cats had failed. My codes were Misfires on 4,5,6 and multiple cylinder, and both banks had efficiency below threshold. Luckily enough I sent them some Info and pictures of HTXs cats so I was fortunate and they started there and said both of my cats melted. I never received pictures of my cats directly though I live 3.5 hours away from the repair dealer at the time so I couldn’t just got down there and they weren’t the best at follow up, I also work in the business don’t like to nag until I need to 🤣. When she broke down I was on my way home from purchasing had about 1300 miles on her when engine light came on and I limped her into Gilbert. This dealer hadn’t even received one of these trucks on their lot yet nor had one in their shop to have service work done. Thankfully Mark Dodges service director and shop Forman contacted repair dealer to let them know what they were doing to the few that came into their shop which was cats and there was a G0D ground above the alternator that wasn’t making proper contact and ground so they repaired and properly grounded that wire replaced cats and test drove vehicle it never came back to them..but my repair dealer said mine was fine they did say they did it to be safe to make sure they were ruling out all possibilities of this happening again.. still have yet to know the why 🤷‍♀️ I now have about 2200 miles on her and runs great. Just small coolant leak and had a clamp to the trans cooler line that wasn’t installed properly from factory so my local dealer replaced that line and since cats had to come half off he inspected them to make sure everything was good!
