Just tried to install one, unfortunately I ordered direct from Realtruck and just returned it. I have had and installed 3 of these on other trucks and never an issue with fit. This one, the cover was about 1/4inch to narrow and would not sit within the tracks. It was the 80227 part. When I called them, they thought it had something to do with the utility rails on the side of the bed needing a different part. Not sure how that would cause an issue with the cover as the beds are the same with or without the bed utility package.

Any thoughts? I would love to order another one, just not sure about Realtrucks responce.

I had a similar issue with my Truxedo Sentry CT only it seemed like the tracks weren't wide enough. The two covers are very similar except for the latching mechanism. I removed the cover and re-installed the side rails ensuring they were in the same place from front to back. The bigger change I made was rotating the rails up toward the top of the bed. Originally I pushed them down to make the appearance of the cover seem flatter and more even with the top of the bed. By rotating them up it widened their stance and the cover tracks and velcro fit more like they were supposed too (still not exact but it was 25 degrees and the wind was blowing) I still have a pretty flat appearance and rolling/un-rolling the cover works better.

That’s unfortunate to hear. I will say since real truck took over 100 percent the quality control has gone down quite a bit on the brands across the board. That’s why you see me pushing the rough country stuff. The fit and finish out of the box is a lot more consistent & if there’s an issue they are very quick to fix while real truck drags the process out as long as possible, at the end of the day all of these things are mass produced so I get it mistakes and issues happen but with real truck its almost guaranteed for us to have at least 1 or 2 issues a week.

As far as installing locally I’ve had a few bad ones recently and it’s super inconvenient on all parties & I’ve currently got 3 covers in the back that I’m waiting on a credit for that they told me to destroy all over a month old now. Full transparency, this customer above also has a minor issue with his cover we are working toward resolving and have been waiting on a replacement part for almost a month now.

Kind of just like these trucks..not everyone is perfect out of the factory.

I installed 80227 and everything fit just fine.

Is there a similar Rough Country model you recommend?

They do not have one that is similar but a few other styles that are nice.

What's your experience been with the Rough Country Hard Roll-up Bed Cover? I love the look of the BAKFLIP Revolver X4s, but it's double the price of the Rough Country Hard Roll-up. How would you compare the two covers?

At this point in time I really like what RC is doing as a company to offer the same if not better quality covers at a much more affordable price. I haven't installed the roll up one yet but every other cover I have been way more than happy to. I have the style below for my RHO.

Here is a review on the tri fold vs a bakflip for the money

For what it's worth I got the rough country hard roller from 797 a few weeks ago and it's been good to me so far. The power tailgate has no issues and it stays fairly dry in the bed.

Looks good!

I think I'll give the RC Hard Roll up a shot. I think I'm about done with BAK. @Nick797 do you guys have them in stock?

Apparently my bak mx4 was messed up also and they sent me a new one in a matter of days.

Installed my X4s today and it fit perfectly. Tailgate works without issue and when I climbed in the bed there was zero light getting in past the tailgate seal. Really like the flap they use on the bulkhead. Overall I am happy with the purchase but really feel it should be in the under 1k range
