Found a local dealer via the website who will do the install for ~$150 (~1 hr). Planning to get it done before the New Year!

I'll get some pictures hopefully in by tomorrow so you guys can see. They did excellent work it looks great! Unfortunately it wasn't $220 plus tax. Whoever I spoke to on the phone misquoted me. So I come to find it's $112 an hour. I end up spending a total of $500 that includes the $40 tip. The guy who installed it said really likes it and said it's a bit tougher to install then other hardtops. I guess there is a little more work that goes into installing these bad boys.

It’s pretty similar here. They initially said the job would take 1-1.5 hours, but it ended up being almost 5! Even though they’re ERG-accredited, they eventually admitted they’d never installed that model before and that it was more complicated than other brands. In the end, they charged me for 2.5 hours, but at a slightly higher rate than yours.

As for the job quality, I’m not sure yet. When I got home, I noticed that one of the screws used to fasten a bracket on the bed wall was broken, so only one screw is holding the bracket in place. I’m planning to go back to get that fixed. I haven’t spotted anything else wrong so far, but I can’t see everything. I’m not sure how the sealing was done either, since it’s not visible. However, I did spray a lot of water around the corners and edges of the cover with my garden hose (like washing the car), and I noticed some water in the bed at the four corners. Is that normal? Or maybe my test was too harsh?

Also, do you have any leftover parts from the installation? I’ve got quite a few extra ones, and I’m not sure if they’re just spares or if they were installed incorrectly. The bed cover seems to be working fine, though.

For a true weather resistance test, you'll want to cascade the water down onto the cover, like simulating rain. If you still notice excessive leaking, that could mean the cover just needs to be shifted in one direction or the other, or additional seals are needed. A common fix for leaking at the bulkhead corners is just a bit of silicone, and the tailgate leaking can be solved with a tailgate seal. It's common to get some drips around the tailgate seams, so a tailgate seal will keep that moisture from getting into the truck bed.

I’ve tackled this installation myself, or at least attempted to. I’ve hit a bit of a snag. The driver side rail sticks up a bit higher than the passenger side. I don’t want to proceed to the next step, because the instructions call for measuring down to half millimeters. Anybody done one of these that could give me some pointers?

If you can find an OEM soft trifold takeoff, you might be able to get a good deal. My Backcountry came with one and I had always planned on replacing it, but 3 years later it is still going strong.

My truck came with the OEM soft cover and while definitely not the highest quality cover you will find, it is stupidly easy to install and remove. The biggest surprise to me is that I haven't seen a drop of water in the bed even after heavy rain and after blasting it with a pressure washer.

Same on the soft cover. Just sold mine when I replaced it with a retractable cover but it was good for four years. Water tight, lightweight and simple.

I can confirm. I ended up finding an OEM trifold soft cover for cheap on craigslist and can confirm the super quick and easy install/takeoff as well as how waterproof it has been from both heavy rain and pressure washers in car washes. Mine will be going up for sale though in about 2 months once the Camper comes in. It was always only temporary but ive been super happy with it for what i needed. DM me if interested in it.

It's funny how many thought that cheap looking cover was temporary but need up keeping it. I would still have mine if I hadn't wanted something that locked
