Quick intro: I ordered in May of last year and my truck arrived at Mark Dodge about a week ago (emotionally, the Facetime felt like seeing my first child born). PDI caught hood alignment issues that were so bad it actually cracked the fender. The guys at Mark Dodge have been awesome about this in terms of keeping me informed and replacing the affected parts. Cool. Work in progress.

The situation: But, while getting ready to pay for this thing, I noticed that California implemented an increase to auto sales tax which goes into effect 4/1. Meaning, if you live in CA but you're purchasing out-of-state, you need to receive your RHO, take it to the DMV, register your vehicle with the state of CA, and pay the sales tax prior to 4/1 or you'll be affected by the increase. Increases are per district (see below). Where I live, it's a 1% increase, so an additional $750 in taxes if I can't get it done in time while waiting for the fix. Not an earth-shattering amount, but there goes part of the money I had set aside for Mopar Power Running Boards.

The point: If you're like me and on the bubble in terms of timing, save yourself some money by purchasing prior to 4/1 (if buying in CA) or registering prior to 4/1 (if ordering out-of-state).

PS: I'm not a tax guy and I'm in no way affiliated with sales of any sort... I just have to keep convincing the Wifey that this is still a good idea since it's been 9 months and I can walk with my deposit.

Do you have any more info on this? I live in a smaller town and it’s right next to a city that’s listed on this chart. Do I get lumped in with them? Or if my town isn’t directly named then I am safe?

I wish I had more info but anything beyond what I posted would just be my assumption. Maybe check in with your local DMV?
