I can't figure out what camera will connect to the rear of the truck to use as a different camera for the digital rearview mirror and owners manual is less than helpful. Anyone have any ideas on what cameras will plug n play for my purpose?

Why do I need this? My topper blocks the camera and doesn't have a rear window (not that I'd be able to see out of it anyway)

For reference the owner's manual states:

PAGE44-Tow Mode – If Equipped

Your vehicle may be equipped with an additional auxiliary trailer camera to be mounted on the rear of a trailer. When the camera is connected, the display in the Digital Rearview Mirror automatically switches to the trailer camera.

PAGE 204-TRAILER CAMERAS — IF EQUIPPED AUX CAMERA — IF EQUIPPED

Your vehicle may be equipped with one or two AUX Cameras, which display rearview and side view images from the trailer on the touchscreen. NOTE: Two Aux Cameras are only available on vehicles with NAV equipped radios if the vehicle is not equipped with a Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) and Surround View Camera system. Activation The AUX Camera is activated by first pressing the Back Up Camera or Cargo Camera (if equipped) button on the touchscreen, followed by the AUX button located in the upper left corner of the rearview display. On vehicles with Surround View Camera (if equipped), the AUX Camera can be activated when the vehicle is in REVERSE by first pressing the More Cams button in the Surround View screen, followed by the AUX tab. The AUX camera can also be activated when the vehicle is in REVERSE by pressing the AUX button. If equipped with two AUX Cameras, you can switch between each camera by pressing the AUX 1 or AUX 2 buttons on the Trailer Camera display. AUX 1 Camera Button AUX 2 Camera Button Deactivation The AUX Camera is deactivated by pressing the touchscreen X button. This will return the display back to the previously displayed screen. NOTE: ● If the AUX button is pressed and no AUX Camera is connected, the touchscreen will display a blue screen along with the message “Camera System Unavailable.” The screen can be exited out by pressing the touchscreen X button. This will return the display back to the previously displayed screen. ● Zoom View is not available with the AUX Camera feature. ● The display will always

I have been curious about this as well. Searched online Mopar parts sites and came across a couple options. One being the surround view trailer cameras and a single camera for out back of a trailer. Not sure if either one of these will work or not. This wasn’t for the RHO but for my 2024 3500 Dually for 5th wheel camper rear view in the digital mirror.

Most YouTube searches have some guys doing it with the single camera plugged into the coaxial port on the bumper. Problem was it wasn’t my year model. The coaxial port on the RHO is a little different than the dually. The Mopar cameras are expensive and I didn’t want to buy something without knowing it will work.

Here is a couple of the options I was looking at. I had the RSI Smartcap on my previous Jeep Gladiator and had considered it for the RHO to use for work. I have seen someone actually remove the factory camera from the 3rd brake light, buy an FAKRA extension cable. I will put a link to that YouTube video.

Ty sir!

I figured I couldn't be alone in this and like you didn't want spend a ton of money buying cameras and hoping one would work.

On that site you provided I did find this:

I'll reach out tomorrow about compatibility with 2025 and hopefully that'll do the trick. I'd just need to fabricate a different bracket and mounting solution.

I have seen something for hard shell but prob wont work for a soft topper. Just basically a metal box but it does have rear lights in it. I will see if I can find that.

Just the cable

The housing I saw was from Evil Mfg, which looks like they are out of business.

I REALLY like that! I bought the third brake light kit for my topper and hoped to run a loom for both that and camera wiring and mount them side by side but even if I had to mount camera lower it'd still be better than current situation.

Thank you for all the help. Got the gears a turnin'

What soft topper are you running? Do you like it? How much is it on and/or off?

I got the original Softopper, from softopper.com
They are owned by whatever large company owns Bestop

I did the solid back canvas panel, dog window insert, third brake light kit and some of their sealants.

I am currently loving it. I knew where it excelled and where it would fall short so went in with both eyes open. Plan is to run fully sealed for camping/cabin and snow trips, run it in safari mode with pup when driving around town and when taking out for local scuba training, for easy shade for surface intervals. I'll close it completely or remove it when doing hardwood, steel and building supply pickups but it only takes a few minutes to go from completely sealed to collapsed or removed. Safari mode takes a minute or so more because of the tie downs.

Nice! I liked the RSI smartcap for the security of carrying tools and the ability to have a roof rack for longer loads like wood and ladders. Same as you on the scuba training. Nice to be able to cram wet gear and tanks in without having it ruin the inside of my Gladiator. I also liked that I could stop without fear of being liberated of all my $$$ scuba gear.

Very good points. I tend to only patron restaurants where I can sit in full view of my vehicle because of that exact same fear. I really like the smartcap but AZ summers and german shepherds made a black topper not ideal. He doesn't respect boundaries and likes to sit in my lap for driving so he has to stay in cab or I'd have likely gone that route as well.

I don't travel with my tools too often but probably wouldn't trust them with any vehicle or any type of security with the frequency of tool thefts out here. Though I'd probably be able to recover them pretty easy as not a lot of places to dump Festool.

I would imagine the heat and sun in AZ on a black top would be brutal! Especially for the pups. I dont always carry tools but sometimes I have to for different job sites, along with ladders so the soft topper wouldn’t really work for me. But as I say that I have no way to carry long items on my RHO. Maybe I will get a rack later but having a cap is really nice. It just makes your sporty truck look like a work truck. Haha
