Ceramic Coating Service

Well, just got a call back on a quote from a very reputable shop...$1000 for basically the same service as my first post. Difference is since the truck/paint is new he says it doesn't require as much work for him and his shop.

I had System X applied with a 1 step correction and included all trim, lights, and glass. It was an add on for $700 on top of $1200 for partial Xpel PPF. Results were fantastic.

Maybe I'm an outlier but....wow.....I don't know that I can make myself spend $2k to have ceramic done. My thought is most of what you're paying for is labor and warranty.

I have pretty much all the tools & materials at home to do mine myself....just haven't taken the time to do it. It also means I'd likely need to pull my boat out of storage so I can use that space to do the work in.
The cost is >95% labor. If you have the tools and know how you can do this for less than $200 easily over a weekend.
Absolutely true, both of you. But for me, I’d rather pay $2k and have my weekend free to chill. YMMV.

Here I was mad as hell paying $800 for this snake oil. My shop said the same thing because the paint was new and didn’t require a correction. Looks like we got a good deal!

I have the same tint on mine. The heat rejection is impressive. You’re going to love it!

I've seen a TON of posts on here about ppl ceramic coating their RHO and the first question always seems to be, "how much did you pay?". I've seen anywhere from $500-$2k. My question is...

What ceramic coat brand did you get AND what did the shop include? Reason I ask is the guys getting the $500 coats, that's just got to be spray on ceramic right?

I had my guy quote me $2200 for 9yr Gtechnique which also includes, decon wash, clay bar, 2 step paint correction, and then coating windows, windshield, trim, paint, and front face of wheels. I'm waiting on a few other places to get back to me with quotes and what brands of ceramic coat they use, what prep work is included, etc.
Just temper expectations on anything over 2+ years “lasting”. Why these companies claim that is crazy to me -from a chemical level, it really is impossible.

Most detailers will require them to do the maintenance washes in order to honor the warranty, which is where they make up on the “9 year warranty”.

But a ceramic package should include decon wash, claybar, 1 step polish, and coating.

Price varies greatly as with anything service related. $500 means corners are being cut, $2000+ is certainly an upcharge for a new vehicle barring some catastrophic factory paint defects -which should be a Ram warranty claim anyway.

Sweetspot will be $800-1600.

Every new car’s paint has so many issues that need to be addressed.

Absolutely, which a 1 step will fix.

If you have to 2-step a new car (minus maybe a spot section) that really should be a warranty claim.

💯💯💯

As far as how long the coating actually lasts, really depends on the vehicles use. Daily driver seeing all the elements obviously lasts far less than a garage kept summer car.
