2025 RAM RHO
Just bought my new RAM RHO a few days ago and wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing issues with the dimming switch. During daylight, the dimmer switch does not work to dim the instrument panel or 14” Uconnect screen.

Here are my settings and results:

Headlights: AUTO
Display Mode: Auto
During day: Using dimming switch DOES NOT effect instrument panel or 14” screen at all
During night: Using dimming switch DOES effect instrument panel and 14” screen

Headlights: ON
Display Mode: Auto
During daylight: Using dimming switch DOES NOT effect instrument panel but DOES effect 14” screen (appears to switch to nighttime / dark theme on maps and allows dimming)
During night: Using dimming switch DOES effect instrument panel and 14” screen

Can someone please confirm that the dimming switch is supposed to work during the day, or is this by design?

Thanks!

Yeah dimmer is for night but in uconnect settings you can set default brightness and weather or not you have day/night on auto switching or pick one if you have a preference.

I can't figure out to force search for a wifi update though. Set it up and can only make it keep searching for more networks, which is less than helpful.

Thanks for the quick reply CT! So can we really only dim the console and instrument panel if it’s in the night time setting? Man, that makes absolutely zero sense, and quite possibly the worst design feature ever. I know we can manually switch to day/night, but I really need dim capability for daylight settings while retaining auto switch from day to night. It’s absolutely necessary to be able to control brightness of these in the day, while retaining daylight console style. For example, dusk vs bright mornings, will require different intensity’s of light, while not needing dark/night style on maps etc. How did this pass basic user testing? Is this really by design?

LOL, I had the same issue and found it odd, but then it switched to night mode and I had power to tweak. After driving 1450 miles across the country and at all times, I found the day-brightness was pretty perfect on the Uconnect and instrument cluster but found myself tweaking the HUD often enough to be annoyed with it. I'd imagine there IS a way to change brightness of it all during day, just not with that wheel to the left.

I also had hoped that if I could force an update that it might make some of the stuff that makes no sense, finally start to. Haven't a clue what version I'm on or how to know which version is current but just haven't had the free time to hash that out, as yet.

I am still sorting through the menus and options of UConnect as I find much of it not intuitive and no explanations or previews only make it all the more interesting ;)

Same! I’m only 48 hours in, and obviously the dimmer is just a minor pet peeve to an otherwise incredible ride. However, I’d love to figure out how to manually run a software update. Was debating contacting dealership to fix the dimmer, but sounds like it’s definitely by design (for now). Hopefully an update can fix that. Let me know if you figure out the update, and thanks again for the replies brother.

Took me longer than I'm willing to admit to figure this out in my girlfriends Jeep last year. It makes sense once you see it, but holy Moses is it unintuitive.

It's starting to feel like an anon meeting here with all the confessions :ROFLMAO:

Glad I'm not alone in that. I still can't figure out how to do most of what I actually want to do.

Yep, I read page 58 in the manual, but this still really doesn't explain why it is by design :(

The bottom line here is that we are unable to adjust/dim the intensity of the instrument panel and uconnect system while in daylight driving (no headlights on). Sure... great... we can go into MANUAL display mode and manually adjust the "Display Brightness Daytime" from 1 to 10. But this ONLY works to dim the uconnect screen and NOT the instrument panel. It's like having an iPhone and saying that I have to go to SETTINGS > CONTRAST > DISPLAY & BRIGHTNESS anytime I want to make a simple brightness adjustment; rather than just using the standard iPhone Brightness slider from my Control Center.

I also don't think this is RHO specific, but likely for all newer RAM models. Someone please tell me I'm not the only one who finds this to be an extreme oversight in design and user experience?

I had this problem with my 2022 where it gets really dim at daylight , I turned off the option “turn on headlights with wipers” and it been good since then . Not sure if the RHO has that selection.

As I understood it we have to take Headlights off auto and you should have control of both from the wheel switch doohickie. Auto also auto adjusts screen brightness. Did I misinterpret that?

Here's some info that might help.
