RAM 1500 Limited midnight edition
Two days ago it was my turn. After 3400 flawless miles, the truck just gave up. I parked it in my driveway at noon without

issues, and 6 hours later the truck was completely dead. Charged the battery and a whole slew of warning lights came on.
I called customer support to have the truck towed and the only thing they came up with was the $200 I had to pay up front for the 8 miles towing distance. Absolutely useless. At least the airbag shows operational.
That was a very short love story.

I wouldn't sweat all the error codes. It can generally take as much as 24 hours after a battery failure for the truck to rediscover that everything works - it's a well-documented quirk of Ram trucks.
The reason for the dead battery, however, would be something to figure out.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but there are no root causes of these battery issues and therefore there are no solutions that work 100%. What is RAM doing about it, it’s been a minute 🥴

My dealer told me rams/dodge etc have been having battery issues for years because they use interstate battery’s which may be the cause of the issues.

I'd take a dead battery all day over greater issues. For what it's worth, it's been quiet around here with issues and such, so maybe those kinks are starting to get worked out! Good luck and keep us updated.

The battery drain in my truck had nothing to do with the batteries themselves.

It was ultimately traced to a loose communication cable between the front camera (above the rear view mirror) and the module that interprets the images. Without a good signal, all 70 modules in the truck would constantly “wake up” & kill the batteries.

Cable tightened, new batteries (among lots of other components that were replaced, needlessly) & no more battery drain.

If this is the case and it's been a batch of bad batteries couldn't this be solved by just buying a quality battery and ensuring its properly charged up before installing it?

Seems odd that guys who spend 80k on a truck would risk things not working or to stop working rather than just swap out what at this point is a known common weak point. I get it no one wants to spend extra money for no reason after spending a lot on a truck BUT if I knew the battery could lead to this kind of stuff i'd have no problem putting in a better battery upfront.

One poster did just that. And, it appears to have resolved all his electronic issues. Maybe the act of changing the battery corrected something that was draining them? IDK.

interesting, eh I mean they are very new trucks and kind of a Frankenstein being a trx body and the motor from the grand Wagoneer. Maybe some small issues but ultimately over time all crap parts will be changed out under warranty and you're still left with one badass truck :)

Where exactly do you tighten this cable? Can you show us?

From what I've seen on the other forums, the battery-drain issues aren't limited to a single cable in a single location. They've popped up everywhere - loose ground under the truck, random connectors that are loose, etc. And the dealers' technicians have a really hard time chasing those things down.

Maybe eventually through the forum someone can clarify with pics exactly which connectors need to be checked/tighten thus eliminating this worry. That's what forums are great for usually. Wealth of knowledge.

My first job was at interstate all battery center and I can say they weren’t good batteries from what I’ve seen

There are some with actual bad batteries, others with loose connections/faulty grounds, and others like myself who had a single event where something in the system decided to stay on and drain the batteries down to 4 volts. Since that happened to me over a month ago I have had zero issues and since they did not stay depleted for long I did not have to get my batteries replaced. So there is no one hat fits all but I feel most will be addressed through ota updates.

Just dropped the truck off at the dealer without any warning lights. @Eighty was completely correct. Every time I started the truck a few warnings would disappear. The battery is a bit of a concern. I do remember when I parked the truck in my driveway, there were a usual amount of noises coming from under the hood. It almost sounded like something was shorting. And more than the usual clicking sounds.

The tech rep would keep me up to date. No clue yet what it could be but keep y’all posted.

Got the truck back yesterday. This is what they found.
"Found 12V battery discharged. When 12V battery is weak, can cause excessive voltage variations, making modules unstable and unsure of their operating condition. This causes to trigger faults. Tested both batteries and batteries failed the test. Removed and replaced both batteries as per service library. Test drove vehicle and np DTC returned at this time, Repair complete."
Had the oiled changed while it was in the shop.

I feel for you, brother. Two weeks ago, I decided to bail on my RHO order for these EXACT concerns. I got a leftover 2024 Durango Hellcat Plus for $30K under MSRP. My biggest problem is dizziness when I launch it hard. It comes out of the hole like it's been fired from a cannon. 1300 miles in, here's my health report.

did you get the deposit back? what was the OTD $ for the Durango hellcat?

Yes, dealership gave me my $1K deposit back. If there were no mitigating circumstances and I had simply changed my mind on a factory order, I don't believe that I would be entitled to a refund of deposit. But in the case of the RHOs and the absurd delays and problems, that is a different story and anyone who bails out has a very real argument for refund. I posted details of bail-out here:

The Durango is a 2024 Hellcat Plus with black package. MSRP was $106K. OTD was right about $80K with tax. That was actually cheaper than my RHO would have been even with almost $10K MSRP discount.

Very happy with Durango so far. I had local detail shop put a satin black vinyl wrap on the hood for $300 so it is a 2025 Final Edition Silver Bullet Last Call knock-off. :ROFLMAO:

Specs say 0-60 in 3.5 seconds but I've got several at 3.3 according to online computer and it's not even broken-in yet. Launch control is not needed. Put it in Sport mode, turn off traction control, release brake and mat it to the floor. It jumps out of hole and runs like a raped ape. Sounds like Godzilla tromping through Tokyo. Looks like soccer mom, runs like a criminal. Very gangster. Very happy.
