I think after considering expenses to fly down and drive back truck (flight, hotel, gas, miles on truck), it makes more sense to ship it to me. Quote estimate was $1,100 - $1,300 shipped 1200 miles. Talking to friends who have had their vehicles shipped even further, it seems kinda high. Thoughts? Who else is having theirs shipped?

That's about what I was quoted still up in the air for me though.

About the same price for me!

Where did you get a quote?

It was an estimate from MD with I assume the third party they use for shipping beyond 250 miles.

Just remember, once it's on the trailer, it's now YOUR vehicle. For better or worse. 99% everything goes amazing, but there ARE those times where driver misjudges a bridge height, drops a vehicle off trailer, gets into a collision, vandalized, etc. Their insurance SHOULD come into play, but that is a special ring of hell that I would wish upon nobody. Fly out and drive back and possibility all sorts of stuff happens too, but I like to have all available information so there you are.

Life happens, plan accordingly.

You requested it from the dealer?

Yes, are there other options? Never shipped a vehicle before.
Never shipped a vehicle either. Wanted to know where you got the quote.

I bought from Mark Dodge and live in Florida. They said they could get the vehicle to New Orleans for free. I'll think I'll fly up and drive it back. 850 miles.

Do you know if they trailer it to New Orleans? I would think so. So just saving a couple hundred miles by having them bring it to a bigger airport location?

This is my exact plan! Make a NOLA weekend out of it with the wife. Driving that sucker back to Sarasota and straight to the wrap shop! Sarasota here.

I didn't ask yet but I would assume that. But for me it saves me 115 miles. And 2 hours. Worth it.

I'm in South Florida but I'll do the same. Wife in New Orleans for the weekend. Take route 30A scenic tour then turnpike down. Good luck.

I’m in NYC. I don’t know if it’s worth the drive back. Between flights hotels and gas. Might be cheaper to ship it I’d also save my vacation days.

For the remote purchasers - I would always try to have someone get eyes on the truck before you buy it (or at least get a written representation from the dealer regarding the truck’s cosmetic condition). You would like to think they will all be perfect, but sometimes they are not. I bought a 2024 Laramie for my kids from a forum dealer sight unseen. Had it delivered. When it arrived it had these rust pits throughout the bed and tailgate. Dealer said take it up with Ram under warranty. Fought with Ram for months.

$1 a mile seems right. I live 1400 miles from Mark Dodge. I think I am going to fly up and drive back. I hate to finalize a deal for a $75k truck without seeing it first. Maybe they do videos first. we will see. I am not expecting it until late December or January since guys in D1 are seeing Dec. delivery estimates, and I am still sitting in D.

Contact dispatch dudes for shipping. Legit !

I am driving mine back. Live in California, so this will be a great break in and get to know the truck.

I’d like to drive it back but just not sure how I would even be able to do the break in procedure driving on an interstate. Also seems like high potential for rock chips. Although I currently have a very low car which may just be a lot more prone to rock chips.
