Hemi is back...and it will not replace RHO HO Hurricane

I don't understand this strategy at all. You want to bring back and old engine and then charge 1200 more for it. How much is this costing RAM to implement? And it looks like its just E-Torque right now... I don't like that. And I bet a lot of others wont like it either.

The official explanation for the extra $1200 is, "Contracts had to be renegotiated and there are compliance issues, all of which explains the additional $1,200 cost, Kuniskis says".

Gobledeegook.... Seems like a cash grab. And I don't blame RAM for trying it... but yeah I'd be more likely to appreciate this move if it came with a little more HP and Torque

So agree on this, if people want the Hemi you're going to pay for it.

Good for them. I can’t blame Stellantis at all. If people are going to be so vocal at wanting something to sound a particular way and value a sound over performance to the point of making them reopen production of pre-existing product then hell yeah charge for it and there better be a comma in the price tag if it’s that important to them. Don’t forget they had to spend development dollars on getting it to work with the new Atlantis architecture.

The HEMI always had an upcharge on it when set up on a vehicle that had a lesser option available, to my knowledge.

2024 1500 Bighorn had a Pentastar available for no charge, or HEMI available for $3045. That's with base MSRP of $51,185.

2025 1500 Bighorn had a Pentastar available for no charge, or Hurricane available for $2695 That's with a base MSRP of $51,535.
(and a lot more standard features)

2026 1500 Bighorn has a Pentastar available for no charge, or Hurricane available for $1695. That's with a base MSRP of $52,130.

TBD we'll see what the pricing on the Pentastar, Hurricane, and HEMI all look like together on the same vehicle next week. If it's $1200 flat over the pentastar, that makes it cheaper than 2024. It might actually be $1200 for the HEMI above the hurricane, which would still, if no other changes, be less than a 2024 MSRP. We'll see next week.

I love this move, frankly.

Go win back some of the V8 crowd, and hopefully that equates to gaining some of the overall truck sales pie. Hemi buyers won’t scoff at $1200 over a V6 or I-6 for that matter. I’m sure plenty of them will scoff at an etorque, though (as would I).

My biggest concern was what they would do with HO Hurricane as a result, and it’s clear from the table that it’s still held as the premier engine option on these SKUs.

For me coming from a Hemi, the HO has won me over. I won’t be going back.

Looking forward to the release this weekend!

Tim Esterdahl at pickup trucks plus suv talk teased that Ram has done something to his truck that he can't show yet....Go check that video out towards the end to see. I'm curious what the secret may be and if it's something that will be available to all Rho's soon.

Choices are good. The sales team can have them test drive the v6, then the hemi, then a SO i6, then an HO i6.. coming from the 6.4 in a 2500, i do miss that sound, but the RHO blows it away in every other aspect of Fun to drive.

I would have been nice to see a non etorque 6.4 in a 1500, maybe someday.

Hopefully what they have done will be fixing all electrical gremlins and battery issues :)

Don't forget that there was a non eTorque 6.2 (supercharged) in a 1500. And in the same body style as the RHO.
And the rumor is that it's coming back...

Interesting that the 6.2 Hellcat “is not a viable option”
“Will we ever get back to a TRX? We’ll see”
Does this mean it’ll be a monster version of the Hurricane!?

Also putting a hemi in the RHO “I’m not saying we won’t do it” but it may not provide enough performance.

I suspect it'll be out of my price range, but hey if they want to keep it at RHO prices, like the original TRX, i'm game for that

I think it's a Mopar exhaust.

If they even bring it back it's going to be over $100k would be my estimate
Agreed. Just price out the TRX Final Editions. Well over 100K. 2 model years ago. Things haven't gotten cheaper since then. LOL

Ready for the curveball .... the Durango Hellcat is... actually less expensive now than it was in 2023 and 2024 model year.

2023 DDHC base MSRP (last published code guide) $94605
2025 DDHC base MSRP (currently available to order) $86990

So.... it IS possible but I think if they're going to have TRX and RHO they will want to keep them quite well separated in price, no need to overlap and cannibalize sales.

I'll refer you to the wise words posted earlier...

There's certainly a market for the big-boy engines in a 1500. But you have to pay to play. For those on a budget, there are other options.
