Hemi is back...and it will not replace RHO HO Hurricane

I'll refer you to the wise words posted earlier...

There's certainly a market for the big-boy engines in a 1500. But you have to pay to play. For those on a budget, there are other options.
The big boy engine is standard. It’s the little boy’s engine with the live action sound that is going to have the extra charge.

I put 22k miles on a Limited 5.7 eTorque and it was an excellent highway cruiser. My wife has a Rebel X for 6 months with the SO. It felt like the SO had a bit more over the 5.7 but not by much. Traded the Limited for the Hydro Blue RHO and there’s no contest. Makes the X with the SO feel like a dog after driving the RHO. Now the X is gone and replaced with the Silver RHO. If they bring out the TRX with an 800+ HP SST it will crush everything out there.

I don't understand this strategy at all. You want to bring back and old engine and then charge 1200 more for it. How much is this costing RAM to implement? And it looks like its just E-Torque right now... I don't like that. And I bet a lot of others wont like it either.
Its a
Ready for the curveball .... the Durango Hellcat is... actually less expensive now than it was in 2023 and 2024 model year.

2023 DDHC base MSRP (last published code guide) $94605
2025 DDHC base MSRP (currently available to order) $86990

So.... it IS possible but I think if they're going to have TRX and RHO they will want to keep them quite well separated in price, no need to overlap and cannibalize sales.
plus selling more TRX will have a financial hit to CAFE and CARB numbers for STLA.

Wow. That is SIGNIFICANTLY less expensive. It also doesn't add up, does it?

This is certainly true.....but just wait until the mods really amp up for the Hurricane and performance starts to surpass the bigger displacement engines

Yeah, but then you wouldn't be comparing apples to apples. Stock against stock, or modded against modded. The Hurricane may be capable of 700 HP Hellcat power, but the Hellcat is capable of 1200+ HP.

Oh I'd be willing to bet you can pull more than 1000hp out of the hurricane. It would take some doing of course

I am glad Ram brought the Hemi back...options are great for us all. It will be fun when someone drag races the 'new
hemi ' vs a SO Hurricane it will be fun to see....oh wait I may be doing that 😂.
It's not even close! There are vids (and 0-60 and 1/4 mi times) for the Hemi RAMS (2024) and I-6 RAMS (2025) and it's a blowout. The Hemi sounds great - but performance-wise, it's a no contest. I'm with D&S - not sure how paying $1,200 for much slower truck makes sense - but to each their own. Quick google search shows 0-60 of 2025 RAM Lamarie with standard output at 5.0 0-60 and 2024 RAM Laramie is 6.4. That's a beat down!

Keeps the boomers in their big horns happy. Lol. Meanwhile people with a brain and HO Hurricane are blowing their fucking doors off.

Choices are good. The sales team can have them test drive the v6, then the hemi, then a SO i6, then an HO i6.. coming from the 6.4 in a 2500, i do miss that sound, but the RHO blows it away in every other aspect of Fun to drive.

I would have been nice to see a non etorque 6.4 in a 1500, maybe someday.
What is the concern about the e-torque? I had this in my 2021 Ram Rebel and loved it, not so much for the additional torque in certain circumstances, but the start stop feature. The start stop feature was instant and flawless. Much better than cranking the starter.

I have never owned an eTorque-equipped vehicle, so I'm just going from what I've seen/heard for the past couple of years. Most of the complaints have revolved around (1) additional parts to break (and additional weight of the battery), and (2) mysterious electrical problems and issues with the truck shutting down while driving.
