Don't have my RHO yet but from my experience with many other JB4's MPG is completely unchanged.

How difficult to install?

So plug and play and a big jump in HP. May need to research this a bit. Any negatives?
Yep, 3 connections under the hood, route a wire through the firewall and plug into OBD, zip tie the processor in a good spot and done. I've been using them for over 10 years with no negatives - however *in theory* if something catastrophic happened Ram could probably find a way to detect there was more boost and therefore deny warranty. It's a very low probability but a risk you should be aware of IMO.

So not worth the risk…got it. 👍🏻

Do you just remove it any time you take your truck to Ram for service or repair?

Sure you can remove it but I bet when something major goes down they will performs a very thorough inspection and will be able to tell you had something on. I doubt with all technology this days that nothing is getting recorded how engine been running.

Magnusen-Moss Act. After Market and Oil change Law Jan 4, 1975 stops auto makers from voiding warranty, also if there is a TSB for the engine blowing up they have no leg to stand on, also when it is removed it leaves no trace , its not installed into the software.

Honestly, even though I don’t have my truck yet, it’s worth every penny of it. And if something does happen, I don’t mind removing it before going to the dealer since it’s a quick install/uninstall. I’m not one to stress if warranty will cover something, unless the whole motor blows, but in the past I’ve always modded my leased cars without worrying and nothing has yet to happen.

With that being said, watch something happen to the RHO once I get it because life.. lol

You would have to remove before every oil change and you still would be on the hook if they looked for errors in a major repair , I know I'm to lazy for that . Assuming you want a service record for warranty good standing ?

Too many wet blankets in here!

Yes, we understand, modding any car comes with accepting a certain amount of risk.

JB4 is a proven platform & a nice option for many at a reasonable price. Thank you to the folks sharing their experience & how-to info that makes these forums so valuable & fun!

I've seen alot of videos where folks have installed them, did a few 0-60's, and then IGM said something about a dyno run the following week, then no updates on the RHO on the channels

In my mind, it's either working amazing without any issues, or they blew them up.

New motor is 13k (direct connect), in time I hope to see a direct connect 800hp and someone building the transmission to handle it

Satera tuning has had a JB4 on for weeks beating on it and Doing dyno runs repeatedly and it’s running fine and making big power safely

The freeze frame data stored in the EEPROM does contain things like - maximum boost pressure/mass air flow/fuel flow. So it's certainly possible for them to figure you out. VAG has made leaps and bounds of progress on detecting these devices - shared with Bosch. Which we have a Bosch MG1 ECU in these trucks. :)
