Didn’t want to wait for an order so I picked up a Billet Silver and added powered running boards from MD. Got delivered Friday and took it out all weekend.

Initial impressions: big truck compared to my 21 Limited. Like others have said, something seems to “unlock” around 300 miles in the ECU and it just runs a little more smoothly (engine and transmission).

the truck is a bit wider than my old one and I took care to park well away from others, but some jack hole already gave me. Nice sized send in the left passenger door. I hate folks who don’t care about other people’s property. Oh well.

It’s interesting because of the height and width of the vehicle it is probably more apt to get hit by the tip of smaller car doors. Not sure how to prevent.

That's one of the reasons I prefer the standard running boards. I've had a raptor the past 6 years with running boards and they stick out just enough to catch car doors to prevent dings... Can you make your powered boards stay down when parked?

Yep. May have to get the fixed ones next time.

There is a way to manually deploy them. Will try that.

My fear is that the way many doors are shaped now is the widest part is up high and well above any running boards

The truck is high enough and the off-road boards stick out so much that any regular car or SUV will just hit the board. Of course there's front fender and rear but people wont park by them. I used to have rock rails on few rams back and changed them to off-road quick because they don't provide much protection.

It’s not really too bad. The doors/cab area is the same as other Ram 1500’s (no wider), and the flares prevent some potential door dings to fender/bed area in angled parking spots. I put the factory fixed running boards on for added protection and my short wife.
