So I picked up my RHO from Mark Dodge Saturday and drove back to SC. Yesterday I received a forward collision warning light. My app is reporting a problem with adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. Also, a loud buzzing noise is coming from my driver side headlight. Sort of sounds light a ballast going bad.

Welcome. I’ve had a pcm on order since 2/3 😂

I was on my way to the dealership for service last evening and the light went away. The buzzing is still there though. I think @Ctech-Review had a similar problem and it was a short wiring harness. I will mention this happened right after my first launch, probably just coincidence though

FINALLY, another SC RHO on the road
If I recall, somebody else had the same issue with their passenger headlight buzzing and it was indeed the ballast.
My RHO is built and waiting to ship to Mark Dodge. Once it shows up, there will be at least one more Rhino in SC on the road. Can't wait!

I’ve been told the fwd collision warning, auto emergency braking, blind spot warning faults are all part of a software update/patch that is forthcoming. I was told it would be available in a week…but, that was in January.

Ah, hasn’t caused me any issues yet, except when there was a stalled vehicle in my lane on the highway. Went to change lanes & my left blind spot monitor triangle in the mirror was illuminated, indicating another car was in my blind spot. I quickly checked my right blind spot & it was also illuminated. I figured both being lit was a fault & I changed lanes anyway to avoid rear-ending the stalled vehicle. Yup…blind spot stayed lit (fault) until my next stop. Happy I didn’t trust it! Coulda ended badly.

Best just to turn that stuff off & drive like we have since before these great electronic gremlin producers existed.

Mine was actually a broken ground wire

I actually have the same buzzing noise but coming from the passenger side headlight. Today, I dropped it off at my local dealership, they say they would take a look at it. I'll keep you guys posted.

RHO review - also noting the buzzing headlight/bad ballast (at the 6 min marker if you want to jump to just that section) -

Mopar sent me a vehicle health report email and it had Adaptive Cruise and Automatic Emergency Braking errors, but my app and dash don’t show the errors. Had my truck for ten days. Interesting how the errors are reported. Probably same software update needed.

No software updates. Faults became stupid frequent (like 12x just driving across town), so took it to another dealer. The original dealer refused further diagnostic since Ram engineering told them it was software (they know the drill). New dealer has the interior completely torn apart & have found two potentially faulty modules. Parts expected next week. Let’s hope it’s fixed after that.

This appears to be a common problem. If it is the modules, where are these things coming from? Who makes them? Gotta be expensive for Ram to pay all this diagnostic, I think they need to find another suppier or redesign these things, no?

Thankful for this new dealer who is trying to fix it!

Did you end up taking it to my local dealer? good peoples for sure.

Not encouraging that a brand new delivery is having the same issues encountered by others months ago.

Interesting....

I just got my truck back today after being at my local dealership for 2 days. I was told it was the first RHO they even seen or worked on (pretty much didn't know what to do) so they got a hold of one of RAM Engineers and he told the guys at the dealership it was a module update. Which was performed at dealership. Haven't hear any buzzing we will see as time goes by.

What was the reported problem?

I had a module update at 300+ miles. It went from being a blind spot monitoring (BSM) fault to an AEB (Auto Emergency Braking) fault that would repeat until BSM became disabled, among other systems. At 1000 miles, dealer contacted Ram engineering who advised a software update “fix” would be available in as soon as 7 days. It was interesting…dealer said they hooked into my truck & let Ram Engineering poke around. Supposedly, nothing was changed, but my faults became far less frequent. Then at 2K miles, everything went haywire! Now, my truck is sitting at the dealer, interior gutted, waiting on two modules.

As I’ve looked for potential replacement vehicles, I’ve poked around other forums. Seems battery and module problems are rampant among a vocal sub-set of owners on domestically built pickups. Are these things just getting too complex?

Is that for all domestic truck brands?

Honestly, this has me rethinking my order. These issues are too prevalent to me, and even on recent deliveries we’re hearing similar reports. This is my daily driver with no backup options, and we currently take my truck on all road trips as well. I’m not excited about buying a new vehicle that is less reliable than my current one.

I hope they cancel my VIN. It's been almost year since I first ordered. Truck sitting in storage. Would rather apply my deposit to the 26 TRX rather than the Edsel at this point.

Can you not just cancel your order? That’s a ridiculous wait time.

Actually, that does raise a fair point. I wonder how many of these electrical failures are on vehicles that “sat” for prolonged periods. Batteries don’t love idle time, or prolonged states of current draw.

Frankly, mechanical components don’t love it, either. I’d be pretty nervous about a vehicle that’s just been sitting in storage for such a long while.

That's why I'm going to ask MD to just replace the batteries BEFORE I make the 7-8 hour trip back home. It's NOT OPTIONAL and dealers at this point need to do their best PDI possible, no exceptions or I'm not taking the truck and I'll gladly leave with my $1k and wait for another truck order until they fix these issues.

Let us know how that goes for you. I imagine you’ll get a lot of pushback to replace components prior to failure.
