Kind of an introduction post as I’m very interested in coming over to the RHO side after owning a 5th Gen Laramie for 5yrs. I’ve been interested in the RHO since it launched, but wanted to let the dust settle a bit.

Now that I’m in looking at the build options, I have to say I’m a bit disappointed by the option strategy on this truck. Coming from a Laramie where you can pretty easily find what you’re looking for in multiple option, the RHO on the other hand is pretty much all or nothing with the $10k Level 1 package. I think TRX took a similar strategy, and I see now values of used TRX with base, level 1, or level 2 have used book values within about $2k of each other. Essentially, most the cost of the packages is completely lost in resale.

So as much as I’d like to avoid Level 1, there are a couple of things my 5yr old Laramie has that base RHO does not. These are the things I’d love to have in my next truck.
- Passive Entry
- Vented Front Seats
- Rain Sensitive Wipers
- Pano Roof
- Reclining Rear Seats

The rest of the upgrades in the Level 1 package I could honestly do without, or would simply rather not have in my vehicle at all (Passenger Display!)… I’m sure some of those will be nice, but seems like a lot of added fluff I don’t care about.

Of course, I know TRX had a substantial MSRP change after their initial launch year, so while I’m hoping they might change their option configurations for 2026, I’m concerned the price will increase dramatically, as well. Right now, I’m considering locking in a deal on a Level 1, despite the fact I don’t even want most of these options… just to get the couple things I would have a really hard time giving up from my Laramie.

Anyone else have a similar predicament with your purchase?

Base RHO is identical to level 1 TRX if that helps in your decision. 360 cameras and ventilated seats i would say was the main driving force behind the level 1 for most people. "base" has most the needed creature comforts.

You're definitely going to want the cameras if nothing else. Zero regrets with L1

Im not exactly sure how much wider the RHO is than my Laramie. I’m currently running the same wheels and tires from a TRX, with 1.5” spacers on each hub. No camera on my truck, but I find the parking sensors are extremely useful!

I was looking at preowned TRX's last year before eventually just ordering the RHO. Unless something changed since then, what i remember seeing is that the base level TRX and Level 1 TRX was still a pretty decent spread in price. Where there wasn't much of a difference was between level 1 and level 2. Level 1 resale was almost as high as level 2.
All this to say, I ordered my RHO with level 1.

I should have qualified that.

I checked this morning on kbb trade in value for a used 2021 TRX with 100k mi. Level 0, 1, 2 and there was a $1k trade value spread for each option. I’m not sure what is actually happening on the lots, but that point had me rethinking L1.

I love the TRX, but I would buy a base RHO from a discount dealer everyday before buying any level TRX with over 60k miles (out of drive train warranty), let alone 100k.

This is what ultimately led me to get the RHO. I've bought someone else's nightmare before, didn't want to do that again.

Good and great TRXs are out there. Mine is babied. '21 with 27k miles, loaded, level 2. Someone will stumble into a great truck when /if my RHO ever gets built. But high mileage? Out of drive train warranty? Those would be hard passes for me.

No doubt that there are great TRX's out there. I'm sure yours is immaculate. But from the buyers perspective, we have no idea who the previous owner was, if he launched the truck 3 times a day for 2 years straight. Just wasn't worth it for me. I'm sure whoever buys yours will have many more trouble free miles.

got the L0 to keep the price down, but also don't see much benefit paying 10k for the L1. Only thing I would like is the larger screen. In few years I bet it will be easy to retrofit

Larger screen is almost pointless. The bottom part of the screen is completely taken up by the trailer brake and to turn off the front and rear sensors. Those are almost always on and an inch or so tall. I had the 12-inch, now 14-inch, and I cannot tell much of a difference. I do like the volume knobs and stuff are a little smaller with the bigger screen, but that’s all I’ve noticed.

L1 is necessary if you want a sunroof.
I don’t regret it one bit. I really don’t think too much about resale value. I just buy a truck that I’ll enjoy. Let’s face it, it’s not a low budget truck.
If you want the L1, I say buy it, forget about the cost, and have fun in your truck!

I’m pretty close to doing just that. I’m sure I’ll get used to the added options and find them beneficial, even if they feel like unnecessary options at this moment. Sticker shock is setting in now that it’s time to sign the paper though!

Quick question for those with L1. With rear seats and vents, are those only on the two outboard seats or does the middle rear seat warm and cool?

Outboard only for the rear. I completely understand how hard that 10k pill is to swallow but I have zero regrets. My kids absolutely love the reclining rear seats, my wife loves the massaging seats, and I 100% wanted surround view, HUD, and Apple Watch as a key (let’s hope they deliver on that one soon) I also wanted the pano and no way to get that without the level 1.
