Good afternoon, evening, or morning, depending on the case.
A couple of weeks ago, I bought a RHO out of state, and I've noticed my truck has a slight alignment issue. My question is, can I take it to any dealer for free, or what my options would be?

Yes. Many seem to be pulling right from the factory. You can take it to any dealer but a lot of people are reporting the dealers can't figure it out. Seems to be about 50/50.

My Dealer told me yesterday that Ram is aware, and it will actually be a software fix for the pulling to the right issue.

Does the software fix just to tell the wheel to pull left to compensate? LOL

Good question, probably. The thing is it appears a lot of people are checking the alignment and it's fine yet still pulls. So, some dealers are over correcting to get it to drive straight. So, it would seem if you could leave the actual alignment alone, and have the computer correct it, that would be better, no?

Ugh whaaaa???

Next up: Ram aligns the leaning Tower of Pisa by making everyone walk around with their head tilted

Yeah…the pull to the right on highways should be corrected by the electric steering rack. But, it isn’t working as intended. Really messes with the highway self-driving function.

Yes, it’s probably a software issue. When will it be corrected? IDK.

I took mine to the dealer a few weeks ago and they fixed it. Said it was all alignment. Have never had issue with self driving. So, kind of surprised by this response.

Interesting.

Mine does not pull at all when on level ground. As soon as there is any drainage grade to the roadway, it pulls…typically to the right, as that is how most roadways are graded.

My prior Ram had an electric steering rack & pinion made by ZF. It had the advertised function of compensating for roadway grades. It never drifted when the steering wheel was held straight ahead, no matter how graded the road. Definitely a software function as the physical steering alignment cannot “adjust” to compensate for grades…it’s a fixed system, unless there are worn parts.

I wonder who makes Ram’s steering racks now? I assumed ZF, but never actually looked at the unit under my truck.

My dealer did make some small adjustments to my alignment, and it did get better. I assume the software will correct the small amount of pull that I still have. I will say at lower speeds, the truck drives pretty straight. It's above 65 where it's noticeable.

You took it to the same dealer where you bought it, you had to pay for that service. I want to take it to one that is close to my house but I don't know if it has a cost because the problem is that I bought my truck in another state and paying for something that should come in good condition doesn't seem fair to me.

Why do you think you'll have to pay for it? Any Ram dealer will perform warranty work.

I have had RHO for a week and haven't noticed any misalignment.
Everyone should keep in mind that every road has a natural curve or angle. When you are on the right side, it slightly slopes to the right, and when you are on the left side, it slightly slopes to the left.

You will most likely sign a repair order authorizing up to 1 hour of "diagnostic" but if they find it out of spec or an actual warranty concern, that would be billed directly to RAM.

Has anyone had this remedied by their dealer? If so what was the fix, I’ve had the issue since I picked up the truck in January and it’s driving me nuts.

Same. Same.

“have the vehicle running then full crank the wheel left then full crank right total of five times (left then right is 1) then key off for 15 seconds, then key it back on should reset that sensor.”

That’s an old procedure. Some have tried it with no positive results.

My dealer advises that it is a “known issue” for Ram on our trucks (2025 1500). The electric power steering’s roadway grade compensation feature does not work.

It worked great on my 2015 Ram. 10 year’s later, not so much.

FYI, I had my alignment done yesterday after off roading. The dealer did it under warranty. It had a slight pull but now is straight unless the road has a grade. Here is the before/after- they told me caster is not adjustable because of the suspension. They said it is set back to factory settings. Side note, I took it to Firestone before the dealer to get a “lifetime warranty” but the specs weren’t in their system yet (too new) but as I said the dealer took care of it. Just passing on info.
