Shark Fin Antenna

Lowering springs and not 35" tires... LOL... Waiting to see someone make it more of a street truck.

Have same issues when going anywhere with a parking garage. Have to check ahead of time and take my other car at times. Having these trucks is a lifestyle change in a lot of ways from oarking garages, parking lots in general, etc. Etc...
I was actually looking into lowering the springs but I have no idea how it works and I can barely find anything related to the RHO🤣🤣
Can you use the original springs and maybe just tighten it a little bit?
Even lower it another inch or two will be a complete game changer to be honest.

Just load up the bed with several bags of Sakrete. That’ll lower you down a bit!
Seriously, I was considering something like that a long time ago when I realized my truck wouldn’t fit in my garage. I ultimately found a different solution.

6.88 for a bag of 30kilo. Man that’s a steal!
What did you end up doing? Modified your garage door?

Yeah. Adjusted the stops until it’s almost coming off the back of the rails. That ultimately gave me about 1/2” of clearance.

This is good idea... 100lbs surely would get rid of the rake. LOL... I fit in my garage height wise by about 3/4" but not length wise. Waiting on my wife to drive through the back wall accidentally so I can extend it... 🤔

Doesn’t get much tighter than this.

Thread 'Shark fin antena relocation'
https://www.ram-trx.com/threads/shark-fin-antena-relocation.16943/

in the thread, someone mentioned :
Just purchase the actual antenna with Part number is 68328996aa which has on Sirius and bolt it in

I checked Mopar site: https://store.mopar.com/oem-parts/mopar-cable-and-base-assembly-antenna-68328996aa

However, in Description, it says "Sirius / XM Radio / GPS Antenna". Does it mean if we replace the shark fin with this punk antenna, we can retain all functionalities ? Seems in this case, I don't even need to pull down headliner (I have small hands).

I don’t know the definitive answer as I haven’t done this myself. But I assume this antenna is just as functional as the shark fin (just a different shape).

Probably not gonna work. My level 1 RHO shark fin antenna has 3 cables connected to it. The one you found is only 1 cable.

Finally dragged my lazy ass downstairs and did a proper measurement of my condo’s underground parking with my laser measurer.

Gotta admit, my eyeballs are the worst measuring tool ever lol.

I always thought the garage gate was super tight both in height and width, but turns out it’s not that bad. The main gate opening is about 83" high and ~140" wide — no issues at all, even with the sharkfin still on and mirrors extended.

P1 is visitor parking, then the entrance to P2 has another gate. That one feels low — I actually smacked my Durango’s sharkfin on it once when the gate wasn’t fully open — but when I measured it, it’s also 83".

My actual spot is way down in P5. The lowest point in the entire garage I found is a pipe right in front of my space, which measures around 81.3".

So yeah, with the sharkfin removed and just being a bit careful when backing into my spot, I should be good.

Still glad I ditched the sharkfin though — gives me way more options for parking without stressing.

Guess now my only excuse will be my crappy parking skills 😂.

If all the approaches to these points are flat and level, then that’s one thing. But if there’s a ramp (or break in elevation), make sure you take that into account.
For example, if you're driving down a ramp and then transition to level, your cab will be higher (as measured vertically) while your rear wheels are still up on the ramp.
I build parking garages, among other things, for a living. And that’s sometimes a sticking point on final inspection. Codes only make you measure vertically, and don’t take into account any approach angles.

Here is my old work parking garage with 84” (7’) clearance

That’s got to be the cleanest duct I’ve ever seen in a parking garage! Far cry from what I see in DC garages
Not sure how new it was but that was 2 stories underground. :). You’re not getting any city dust or grime down there.

Thank you sir. That’s a super useful note that I didn’t think of. I just got my truck back from the body shop and parked at my girlfriend’s. It says 6’10” but with the ramp I basically scraped the garage door frame and got in. Probably got another 1-1 1/2” to spare.
But all good now. The sharkfin removal is definitely needed and I’m glad I did it.

I live in the city (uptown Toronto in my case).

Both my condo garage and my girlfriend’s are pretty tight—mine has a clearance of 6’8” and hers is 6’10”. We’re not planning to daily-drive the RHO, just use it on weekends, so ideally I’d like to be able to park it in my garage.

Without removing the antenna, the truck won’t fit in either garage. Taking it off technically brings the height down to about 79”, but since my truck is Level 1 and has the extra GPS antenna, I estimate it’s closer to 80”.

In the worst case, if there are any low ceiling spots in the garage, I could deflate the tires a little to get it in. That should also help with most garages around my area—though probably not downtown.

I realize this isn’t the perfect parking setup for such a large truck, but it’s what I have to work with right now. I’m just trying to think of every possible way to shave off even a bit of height.

Meo
so is the Shark Fin antenna only get radios (FM/AM/Sirius XM ) signals? If so, will just remove it so don't need to hassle with headliner.

The lowest point on my open garage door is exactly 6'10" and my RHO clears. However my driveway slopes up to my garage which helps the fin be a shade lower as I'm entering. If my driveway sloped down to the garage it might be a different story.
