What are you guys using? Is the MOPAR one any good?

Thanks!!

Chris

This is a pic of my spare tire. Is there a lock you can purchase for it?

Just ordered this after creeping the TRX forum. I don’t want to lose a bead lock in seconds. Obviously if they want one wheel , they steal all 4 first. :)

Chris

How do you install it?

It goes in the hole I believe you use to lower the rim.

Is this actually a "thing"? I'm not asking to be a smartass, I'm genuinely curious if this is an actual problem to worry about? Never heard of anybody having their spare stolen, even in the JEEP community.

It's definitely a thing in Phoenix, AZ... along with your tailgate. Both are prime targets for thieves.

I’ve seen multiple trucks in Illinois with stolen spares. I guess it depends on the truck? Heck there was a Ram dealer in Illinois that had every spare stolen off their trucks.

Not sure how prevalent it is here in Texas but I know they’re still stealing cats snd tailgates so why not spares. The beadlock rim and tire would be $$ to replace so , it can’t hurt?

Interesting...tailgates? Really?! Thanks for the info

If you price up a new OEM tailgate (and the guts inside it, handle, camera, latch) they run well north of $1k. It is much more for any of the multi-function tailgates, and both come off sickeningly fast.

I had the Mopar spare tire lock on my last Ram. It attaches to the rod that lowers the spare tire retention cable. Picture a keyed lug nut. Kinda the same idea. Comes with simple instructions for install. That Amazon price seems high. Maybe check with a local dealer.

Never had my spare stolen, but who knows if the lock had anything to do with it. Just a deterrent. I’m sure it can be by-passed if the thief is determined.

@RHOfan Thanks!!

Yes a couple of years ago it was less expensive. And it’s less expensive at most MOPAR wholesalers sites but once you add shipping and taxes it’s more expensive than Amazon with taxes. And it comes from the same dealer 😂

Oh yeah. It's been going on here in Ohio for decades! Seriously!

Super easy. Did it today. :). Can’t take pics because it’s about impossible. I have a little less to worry about lol.
