Tazer for the RHO

I'm saying no aftermarket OBD device is able to communicate on the CAN bus to send commands... and certainly not change long coding.... as of right now. That's probably why they have one - to develop a way around the SGW module. This is a discovery period - which may take an unknown amount of time to crack. It's like asking someone how long it will take to solve a complicated puzzle - they have no idea how long. Same goes for reprogramming the factory ECU... might happen next week - might happen in 2 years. So what I'm trying to impress upon you is - it's not for lack of effort.
Well, let's hope sooner than later.

For the uninformed, what kind of coin is one of these Tazers?

Tazer for the Jeep JL & Gladiator is around $330. Need one if your doing mods like gearing change & larger tires.

I used Alpha OBD on my last Ram have no idea if they'll update it to work with this truck.

I saw one, he said initially it might just be a start/stop eliminator.

I would pay just to remove that auto stop from my rig.
For sure. I was planning on buying the Auto Stop Eliminator brand. Had it on my GMC and it worked great, but the Tazer is so much more. I'll wait.

Seemed like more from the short but when I went to the description I see what you are saying about the start stop

Anyone ran in warranty denial issues in past with this? I'm currently going through nightmare with electrical issues so would be concerned with jacking with the factory warranty.

TLDR: Tazer is recommended, just has its quirks

Coming from someone with a Tazer for a 23 limited. it’s great just be wary of the pin and a few other gremlins. I’ve been using mine for over a year now. It’s great in all the features it adds and I love it. I haven’t had any issues with bringing it into the dealer and getting stuff warrantied out. But I always remove it everytime. It is really useful cause it can clear codes and clear all the modules. I have had some random problems with it tho. When you set up the pin. It will be required if u put it in to aux, or run it with the engine off. It works fine most of the time.

I’ve had an issue where I was filling up gas in my truck and the pin malfunctioned and killed the pedal. I don’t even know it wasn’t working till I rolled out , thankfully into a parking spot where I had to unmarry it and a bunch of other bs till it worked again. So be careful with that. I used the brake hold function a few times also. It sketched me out because it will turn ur abs on and flash every light related to Traction control and abs. I didn’t love seeing it and it threw a code on my car. The dark mode is a little wacky too in that it made my 12in screen glitch out till I unmarried it.

Another big thing that it does sometimes is when u turn off TCC it will shut down it completely and kill ABS also. They wont come back online unless u power cycle the car, which i dont love. I think it might be related to long pressing it to get stability control off. But I haven’t been able to figure out exactly why both won’t come back online. My truck hasn’t done that in a while tho since I remarried my tazer.

This is all on the newest firmware, I keep mine updated and check the website every few months.

Overall I do love having it. I just don’t use the pin lock anymore. It became a headache with the inputs sometimes not being recognized. I also almost shit my pants from it killing the pedal. The amber DRLS look great, the auto folding mirrors are a god send. It also has a neat function where u can leave the car running in a parking spot and lock it with a key fob if your running in a store quickly to pick up something.

I just think that some of the issues and problems are not worth being the early adopters for it. Wait a little for them to iron the kinks out. Especially with the new communication system and electrical gremlins that seem to be plaguing the new trucks.

If u have any questions about it im happy to answer them

I’m willing to bet that you can hook Alfa OBD up to it already. I will find out Saturday when I get my truck. Used Alfa on Rams and Durangos and even my wife’s Wagoneer. Never had any issues with it not being able to work.

You will need a SGW cable though. It’s still a 1500 truck so I plan to use my cable from previous truck.

He hasn’t added alfaobd support for the 2025 DT’s yet, but he’s working on it.
Also, the security gateway is completely different on the 2025’s, and can’t be bypassed at all. The only way alfaobd will be able to be used is by simultaneously unlocking the gateway with another device using an auto auth subscription.

Good to know. Thanks for the info.

Same. The Alpha worked well for me, added options like the OEM ITBC, LED lights, etc. and adjusted the tire diameter with no problems getting things to show up on the EVIC and everything.

From them;
Hi Wade,

Our adapters will work with most OBD-II compliant vehicles which would include your 2025 Ram.

Warm regards,
