Bought my Tungsten from MD. I actually got my plates yesterday. They were held up because while an inspection was not required, my county (Ellis) requires a smog test for all cars to be registered, even new ones. MD was not aware of my county’s requirements so I never had it smog tested. I ended up having to get the smog test, MD sent me a fedex label and I sent them the hard copy of the results. I got my plates a couple of weeks after mailing the smog test to them.

No inspection is needed, but if the truck is registered in Ellis, Harris, Travis, or Dallas county you will still have to get a smog test to register your car.
They can get you an extention temp if necessary too. oddly enough I received a temp AZ plate from MD last week. I'd imagine plate should be inbound any day.
You are correct for most counties in the state, but the ones I mentioned are exceptions. I just went through this with my Tungste. The rest of the state doesn’t have to do it. I guess those of us in the largest metro areas are just lucky

No it wasn’t. Maybe it depended on who put the order in. Either way problem solved. Ordered it from store.mopar.com for $20. Local dealer wanted $45. My plates came less than one week after getting emissions test done.
